I enjoy books that are longer, full of detail. This was one of those books you look forward to listening to. You find yourself running a little more or taking it to the store with you.
This series did not disappoint. The writing was fluid and the characters were were personable. The leads Hadrian and Royce could fill up several other books. You grow to like even the smaller parts, such as Magnus.
This series is worth a try.
adult fantasy lover
Yes, in fact I intend to do the whole series again before Christmas - now that I know the ending I want to see all the little things that set it up - brilliant!
the interweaving of 4 or 5 stories in one
solid - good flow, good characterization in his voice - it fit the story
no - way to complicated - have to sift through it and savour it, like a really complex but fine wine.
Highly recommend this one to anyone who appreciates really well written work.
overall great performance
Fantastic final to a fun series. Royce and Hadrian are a great team and would be great characters in any genre. Just the right amount of magic timed perfectly. Locked in by suspense I could not put it down. A very good read.
Sci-Fi, Fantasy, historical fiction, mystery, thrillers with sarcasm are my favorites with some Romance thrown in for fun.
I am definitely going to need to catch up on sleep having finished the entire trilogy in record time. I could not turn it off. As soon as I come back to consciousness I will be listening to the entire trilogy again.
Michael Sullivan is a master of story weaving and is teamed up with one of the masters of narration, Tim Reynolds. The strong male & female characters bring the story to life.
Even after 2 books the reader/listener is still gaining new insight into all the lead characters, their pasts and their abilities. Listening to their inner struggles to be true to themselves and others was shear nail biting pleasure, even those who lost their way for a time.
Riyria Revelations should be a staple of those who enjoy epic tales of courage, adventure, struggle, friendship, and honor.
I'm not sure how I feel about these books. It lacks real complexity and seems more like a series of short stories instead of a book. At the same time, I enjoyed listening to it. The characters went out to accomplish things and they had definite conclusions. It's nice to see this instead of a story where there is one goal and 500 things keep deterring its success. I would recommend this book but its much more of a relaxing listen then a mind blowing tail.
Clever, fun, enjoyable.
The personalities he attached to the characters was great. I loved listening to this mans voice.
Yes, I couldn't wait to work out or drive long distance so I can get my listen in.
This was a great ending to the series. The end was a surprise to me there is part that just brought tears to my eyes and I wish it could have been different. And I wish there was just a little bit more in the end...a sort of "10 years later" kind of thing. You see all the characters in their final evolution in these books and you see the strength in the friendships and bonds. In general the book, even though it is fantasy, gives a great message about friendship and society. This series is on my top ten favorite books and the author is on my top 3.
I listened to all three books in this series. Each one was better than the last. The narrator is perfect. He is able to perform a large number of characters flawlessly. The story is also very captivating. I highly recommend.
Tell us about yourself!
Yes, I love this one so much that, unless he puts out a new book soon, I will keep rereading all 3 books
Th narrator just seems perfect for this story. He nadles the humour, the adventure, & even the softer storyline perfectly. The different charcacters were well defined & seemed to suit
Just read it!

In these final two books, Michael J. Sullivan wraps up the adventures of Royce and Hadrian (Riyeria) and the arc of the story satisfies the fans: the (surviving) characters remain true to themselves even as they move on with their lives; the mystery driving the series from the beginning is explained (and enough clues are there for even me to figure out most of it ahead of time, but not in such a way that the characters seemed like dunces); and the journey to the end is packed with adventure and humor.
It's really hard to end a series, especially one with the type of characters that the reader can invest herself in and a world where fans can easily imagine further adventures for the beloved cast. Just look at the TV shows Lost or Battlestar Galactica. But the author does a great job of wrapping everything up in a natural way, with a coda that satisfies the fan's desire to know what happens to the characters after the adventures are over.
Again, the narrator was a huge contributor to making this series snappy and enjoyable. He slipped up in the voices once in awhile during extended dialogue, but his reading really brought the colorful world and its distinct characters to life.
By the third book I was really emotionally tied to the characters which is something that I attribute both to great writing and consistent narration. The plot is interesting and unpredictable at times. Definitely worth the time investment. Hated to see it end.
