I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end! The story was great and Linda Emond was perfect for the narration. Helen was such a great character that went through so much but was so matter of fact about how she lived her life. Never feeling sorry for herself or her circumstances. The anticipation I had as the reader just waiting to see when & where & how the ball would drop (so to speak) had me hooked!! Wish I was better at explaining but truly one fantastic read!
My Addiction is Audiobooks!!!! I have an amazingly large audio library. I enjoy romance, mysteries and generally good book by great storytellers.
Listened to this book twice...loved it both times. It is so worth your time and credit!!! Great narrator too.
I did listen to the entire book recently yet I can't recall much about it
lack of substance!
my mind didn't engage enough to consider doing this
an average book, just nothing outstanding for me.
Tell us about yourself!
Please read the publisher's summary.
Once again Lauara Lippman has written a well thought out book. Her characters are believable and their interactions seem normal. However, there is much more going on behind the scenes. For Heloise, her well ordered life, preparations for any threat, protection of her son, and contact with persons from a previous life all seem to be under control. However, there are forces picking away at them. As she plans to transform her life and the threats become apparent, she must resolve all of the pieces.
Linda Emond, as always, gives an excellent narration.
Tell us about yourself! An Audible member since 2006 and a voracious reader always.
A well-rounded plot that wasn't reaching for unconnected story lines. I passed the point of believeability in the first chapter.
Her voice simply did not match the subject matter
Heloise visiting Val in prison.
I've read and enjoyed other Laura Lipmann books, but for whatever reason, this one
gave me a yawn.
I've read most of Lippman's books - I got tired of the Monaghan series and really enjoyed the one-offs she began writing. This one, however was simply not as engaging.
This was an interesting book. I was glad to see Helen work through her struggles and turn her future around.
I just listened to this book and I have forgotten the characters already. It was one of those that just did not leave an impression but I did finish it and the story line and narrator were both decent.
Always liked Laura Lippman novels but this is such a great book. If you want to read a fascinating story that you can feel every second and be immersed completely, please read this. It is greatly narrated and I absolutely loved every second of this.
I found myself totally involved with the main character.
Equality for women comes in many forms.
I would have liked a little more punch at the climax.
