Where to start?
Kathleen Wilhoite is talented narrator with a unique voice. I liked her interpretation of each character, each uniquely their own. Her rendition of Oh Holy Night was incredible! I was very surprised to hear her singing since this was a first for me in an audiobook.
As for Maria Semple's writing I am wowed! Her wit is contagious and you can really get in touch with the wacky characters. I'm not going to go on a whole tangent because I am going to write a full review on my website, but if you are on the fence about purchasing this audiobook just do it!! I am an interior architecture student which added another reason for me to love Bernadette.
Probably not...I'm a one-time listener
Bea. Full of energy and enthusiasm and wonder.
Bernadette...you never knew what she'd do next
Kathleen Wilhoite needs to narrate more books! She was fabulous
At first I was not so interested in the slow narrative, but the story picks up soon after the first few letters and ends up being laugh out loud funny and also endearing.
A few unexpected twists and happy ending.
Wonderful, witty writing and a story that unfolds with twists and turns makes for an entrancing read. The narrator is one of the best I've heard. Her ability to produce different voices to uniquely differentiate each character is outstanding.
Captivating, funny, and touching! This book really held my interest and the descriptions of Antarctica were breathtaking. The reader's voice was good but the tone wore on me after awhile. It was just a touch too over the top for my taste. The plot of the book was also a bit over the top but that is what made the story funny and captivating as it was very unique. Highly recommend this book!
I have wanted to read this story for quite awhile. I really struggled to finish it. I'm not sure which was stranger, the story or the way out was written...largely in e-mail format. Sad to say, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
This quirky family story is told through letters, emails, and other documents. The characters are both eccentric and relateable and somehow I finished this book dreaming of traveling to Antarctica!
I definitely recommend this book! I wasn't sure going in but I am happy I decided to listen. It was such a fun read, I listened in just one day!
I felt like I went back to listening to a bunch a 6th graders speaking to each other. All the drama of adolescence filled with 1st world problems.
The whole book
