Tragic story with well developed believable characters.
Hard to believe plot line when considering the finding of the baby,
However very understandable and human responses to this fairytale happening.
Great period piece with beautiful descriptions and metaphors.
Be prepared to cry.
I absolutely loved the story. It was written beautifully. My only complaint is that the narrator sometimes garbles his words and it sounds like mumbling.
A beautiful yet heart breaking story of true love and loss. I do agree that the narrator was difficult to understand however, once I got used to his accent, I felt it added to the telling of the story.
Someone Who Cares
I love the overall storyline. They say there's nothing new under the sun, but this emotional tale took me down a traveled path, but with great characters that made me struggle with the push and pull of right and wrong. I wasn't at all sure how it would turn out. I refuse to give away endings, but this was a very heart wrenching book, thankfully not from beginning to end., pleasant beginning. The narration was very well done. No over the top crazy voices, which I truly appreciate!
I fell in love with all the characters in this book. I love the way the author told the story from both points of view of Isabella and Hannah. I enjoyed Tom's character. I felt real happiness and sadness throughout this book. Such a range of emotions....keep a Kleenex handy. I've read so many negative comments on the narration. My only thought was that it needed the addition of a female voice for Isabella. Other than that no complaints.
The story is well written and the narrator sounds like your listening to a friend, his task done well. However, I prefer a more upbeat story, one that leaves you feeling joyful, not melancholy.
Loved the story even though it made me cry. My only complaint was the narrator. His sentences would trail off at the end making it difficult to understand and requiring the sound to be turned up louder than I would have liked.
