"Very long but well worth sticking with"
Yes - the story is excellent, but also the themes within it are a reflection of good vs evil and the relationships of humans
Stu Redman; a character in The Stand, is a character that I have cared for the most compared with any other I have ever read
The prison scene with Randall Flag
There already is a film of this book but watch the film after reading the book
"Defo worth a listen!"
This was the first Stephen king book I have ever read or listen to! Although long and at times I struggled with some sections as there was a lot detail, I'm really sad when this finished! Need to pick my next Stephen king listen now!!
Length of story allowed characters to develop
People recovering from impossible situations
Christmas Day with Stu and Tom
"One of the best modern classics"
Don't be put off by the author, this is a brilliant book, in the unabridged form it's also a massive read. This year (typically read this every four or five years) I went for the audio book version and loved it, substituted my holiday read.
in one sentence, no spoilers - global plague, few survivors, good vs evil, the stand, the aftermath, full circle.
There is a film from the early 90's that is true to the book, but 7hrs of film against 48h solid reading means that some detail and characters are missed out. There are plans to do a remake in a similar vein to The Hunger Games which I'm looking forward to seeing.
The story kept me coming back for more, I finished it within two weeks. Some good characters, who stephen king really develops, but ultimately nothing dramatic really happens. a good way to spend some time, maybe as he at the end of the dark tower it is about the story and journey rather than the end goal, but I'm not quite sure
Tremendous value. A great story, fantastic performance, great characters. Gripping to the end. Recommended
"Oh so good"
Cracking stuff. Never read the edited version and enjoyed this the full version as written. A classic. Superb narration.
"Good plot and narration, one annoying character!"
I would probably listen to it again, but in a couple of years as it is rather long although unlike some of King's other 'sagas' this didn't drag for me.
Glen Bateman, who foresaw how society would re-emerge and Tom Cullen, for his innocence and good nature. I ABSOLUTELY couldn't stand Frannie, she was so annoying and self centred. I just wanted to shake some sense into her.
His accents were good, not too 'in your face' and I liked his pace and intonation
This was the second time I have listened to this audiobook, previously I have read the book twice and watched the film so really love this story but I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook am delighted I bought it and will be listening to it again in the future no doubt. Recommend to anyone to get.
"Classic Battle of good and evil after pandemic"
