Great book. Narration excellent. Love this series! I especially liked the family dynamics and the mystery surrounding the sheriff's father's death.
I have loved all the Joanna Brady Mysteries and enjoy all the characters and personalities. Every new book I think is it going to be as good? but they just got better.
Has to be Joanna, she has had so many experiences to knock her down but she remains positive and proactive.
Joanna' mother giving her praise at the end of the aution
Joanna solves the puzzle again.
J.A. Jance please keep all your characters going and give us many more stories to enjoy and thanks for all the ones already published.
Loved the twists.
Yes, I finished it in 24 hours. The twists kept me guessing as to which way they would turn, and if I was right.
She became all the different characters.
Yes, I hated the step-brother because he could not or would not understand what the father was doing, and how much the sister gave up just for doing the right thing.
The fact that Joanna is still a tough Sheriff yet a wife and mother. She's dealing with one of the toughest type of crimes from both views.
Not so much on edge, but a typically good J.A. Jance story.
Just the reaction coming from a mother/grandmother viewpoint
The mingling of the colorful characters and their surprising roles in the story was most enjoyable.
The constant twist in the story kept me from solving the crime.
Hillary gave the characters individuality
I had to keep myself monitored from listening from start to finish in one sitting.
The storyline was good and typical of what a small town sherriff would encounter. I liked the mix of Joanna's personal and professional life being weaved into the story. There were no real surprises or twists, just a narration of what a murder investigation is about to Joanna Brady.
No. The narrator is extremely bad. Distracted a lot from the story line. Perhaps if there was a different narrator I would recommend the book.
This narrator has a smarmy, bored, toneless narration. There was very little inflection. No voice characterizations of the different characters in the story, and her voice sounds like she is very bored and distracted. It sounds like she has no interest in telling the story. Smarmy, nasal, and bored are what comes to mind when I listen to the narrator's voice.
Why would you pick her to read a best seller? Surely there are better qualified narrators available. Was she picked because she works the cheapest? It is mystifying to me why audible would have a bad narrator read a good book.
Please be more careful in choosing narrators. Why in the world would you think this narrator would appeal to any listener??
Gang Mills Kathy
Jance quickly pulls you into this latest and best Joanna Brady novel. The interaction between Joanna and her family is an integral part of the story and revelations about the past offer insight into the present.
Joanna Brady and her family.
Yes, and I did.
J.A. Jance needs to write faster.
Her voice seemed too 'cigarette and whiskey'.
No, the voice was distracting to me.
I love all of J A Jance, but will watch who the narrators are in the future!
Definitely, this has been the best Sherif Brady book so far and hasanswered so many unanswered questions from past books.
How she tied-in the past stories.
No favorite, she does them all very well.
Yes! ! Both
