Wow! Be prepared to cry, even if you have had a charmed life and never experienced loss or heart break or intense joy that your heart wants to break. You will experience it by listening to this and it will remind you that feeling is actually what life is about.
This book stayed on my bookstore's staff pick section for 5 months. Courtney wrote the review and her words "it's a book you'll keep coming back to" could not be truer. I have read the book 6-7 times and listened to it twice. I laugh, cry, nod my head at different and the same places every time. I talk about her thoughts with people I love and I consider her an honest friend. She's real, raw, respectful, often right and sometimes wrong. She reminds me to reach over and over again and restored my desire to "love like a motherfucker" when I almost gave up. Read it. Find the connections. They're there.
Makes me want to be a better, kinder, more open hearted and forgiving person.
Makes me wish I was one hundredth, no one thousandth the writer she is.
The writing leaps off the page, does a sparkle dance around you, makes you laugh and cry and wonder and laugh again, then seeps into your very bones.
This is a delightful read: touching, funny, and wise. You don't have to agree with every piece of advice to enjoy the thought-provoking questions and responses from the Dear Sugar advice column.
I loved all of Sugar's advice, she cuts right to the heart. I know I'll listen again and again, when I'm happy, when I'm sad, and when in need of some good advice! Loved this audio book!
The readers voice is really monotone and kind of wants to put you to sleep. Her advice is sometimes really long and I forget what the point of the original question was.
I read this in 2 days on a drive up and back from LA <> SF it was great and I recommended it to my mom. Very real and thoughtful as well as a book you can FF a little and get to a story more pertinent to you and not feel bad because there are hundreds of stories.
"Now your father is rid of you" "You must go on because you have to"
Her voice is awesome and I wish she narrated her book "Wild" as well... shes a great performer.
