No. I got the message.
No particular moment.
Did Jesus Exist?
Is Christ a made-up figure?
Interesting. I never knew, there was really so much evidence to be found.
Ehrman methodically gives plausible reasons leading to the conclusion that a man named Jesus did exist - and was the basis (somehow) for later stories about him.
Jesus Certainly Existed. The arguments presented clearly here are thoughtful and not superficial. From a secular, scholarly point of view, the arguments and evidence are displayed convincingly and carefully. This is what we expect from Ehrman, and he delivers. He does away with common superficialities and the reader is satisfied.
As an atheist, I often wondered if the man Jesus actually existed. I feel that the book had some reliable proof of his existance, but it was presented in a long drawn out and sometimes redundant way.
Canceling Sirius and getting an Audible subscription was a great move for me. I love to read and now can keep up with all my favorite books while I am working out, driving my car, or as a bedtime story. Sure, I am in my 40’s, but you are never too old for a bedtime story.
This is a great book that is not biased; rather, it is a logical exploration about if Jesus was an actual historical person and what was he really like. The author was not overly impressed with himself and did not get into a plethora of “academic speak”. Simply an outstanding book that causes one to really think.
it really should just be an article. Ehrman continues with his initial scholarship but at times seems to be rehashing sections of his other books
the concept that people consider Jesus to be mythical
I would definitely listen again, there is a wealth of supporting and opposing views covered with a solid basis for the arguments.
Great historical view and information for the existence of Jesus. The facts and arguments for both sides are represented well with no bias. Historical supporting references are covered completely.
Insightful, balanced, authoritative
Well, it's not a story. I think the timeline of New Testament authors and their influences upon one another were very well documented and explained. I really appreciated the author's creation of context in terms of the languages, customs, and circumstances (political, military, etc) of the times.
Not really applicable to this type of treatise.
No, I liked to take my time with it and listen and re-listen to the variety of teaching points made. Would love to take a course from this guy.
This is an interesting and compelling argument that furthers one's understanding of the historical Jesus. Terrific job of being respectful to opinions and positions of others on this subject. As a practicing Catholic, in no way did this book diminish my faith or enthusiasm .... indeed it deepened both. Great documentation and use of logic and reason and a good example of historical research methods as well. Just a treat. Congratulations to the author and all who choose to read this. Wise choice.
This level of scholarship is sorely needed in our divinity schools in this country.
