This was a good listen. I thought the ending was good up to a point but didn't reinforce the boy genius paradigm.
Of course Mulch Diggins. Like the Energizer Bunny her keeps on tickin' on.
He was perfect, as always. He does consistently the voices in a way where the listener can distinguish between characters and tell their unique characteristics.
When Opal got her comeuppance.
Really great listen. Felt in an attempt to make Artemis more human, it made him dumber.
This was an amazing adventure that truly showcased how far Artemis Fowl progressed as a person since he first the met the faeries so many books ago. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a glimpse into the back stories of a few of our favorite recurring characters – especially Foaly!
This book had so many amazing moments that illustrated the incredible bond between Artemis, Holly and Butler. The trio of friends has been through so much together, and at a few points, I actually cried as they struggled to defeat Opal and realized they might not succeed.
My only complaint with the book is that I would have liked to have seen some resolution to the Artemis/Holly storyline that has been teased for so long. I felt like it could have been resolved, but it wasn’t.However, the ending to the book did the series justice and brought it back full circle.
Colfer has said he’s done with this series, but I sincerely hope we get to see our teen genius and LEPrecon commander again someday!
I have been listening to the Artemis Fowl series and have gone through everyone and thought that they were great. This one strays into downright weird territory. The book was fine until the end. Without giving it away, I would say that the ending was not in character with the rest of the series. It also seemed like it was rushed and did not make a lot of sense. Artemis and gang once again save the world but the soul inhabiting the bodies didn't work for the ending. I am glad that I listened to it but am unsure about my 8 year understanding the whole concept. Like I said the ending where Artemis gets "Rescued" is strange at best.
I found the book to be entertaining for both my 10 year old girl as well as myself. When started following this story about two years ago and haven't been disappointed.
The book is a child's level of "LORD OF THE RINGS". It has problem solving scenes that help the kids learn how to keep trying even when all seems lost.
I enjoyed the artificial intelligence of Follie's car. This is the car we all dream about as children.
The problem now a days is that We can't listen or read anything in one sitting. I will tell you that my daughter looked for a few mins. to turn the book on.
Clean books please
Action, Peril, Intrigue
My favorite character as always is the tough, ready for action Holly. She is no nonsense with just a pinch of softness at the center.
Nathaniel Parker is in a race for #1 narrator/performer in my book. I go back and forth with Jim Dale. I remarked again at hearing this book..."Nathaniel Parker is the best" but if Jim Dale comes out with another narration, I might swing back the other way...who knows?
This could be the end of everything as we know it.
I would recommend this series to anyone, including adults as well as my grandchildren. I made the error of listening to one audio version a few books back that was not read by Nathanial Parker, and that was a disappointment. Ok, but just not NP. I was delighted when he read the last two. He is a master with accents and pacing.
Is it really over? The ending was not as strong as the whole series. I guess I would hope for more installments after all.
I'm a fan of Sci-fi and Fantasy and am always looking for new and interesting stories.
I work at camp and I was able to switch from the book to the audiobook very easily as it became too dark to read. I feel that the narrator did a very good job with this book and I really enjoyed listening.
I really like the characters in this series. Even the villain is familiar- I love to hate her. The performance is amazing, and the ending was not quite long enough but completely enthralling.
This final Fowl adventure is chock full of shocking moments and humorous interludes as the gang gathers for a final battle with the ever-evil Opal!
I am a lover of stories, particularly stories that let your imagination run wild. Just because something doesn't exist is no reason for it to hamper an excellent story from being told. If I can do my work while listening to an excellent story, then I am one happy guy
I grew up with the Artemis Fowl series and continue to enjoy the occasional re-listen when I am working on something else. Imagine my surprise when I log onto audible and there is another artermis fowl book. I was a little wary about purchasing this book because I did not feel that the previous two books were up to snuff compared with the others, but finally I decided that I should listen to the conclusion, if only to know the resolution to a series that I loved when I was younger. And let me tell you, I was very happy I did. Unlike the previous two books, this Artemis Fowl book has the same feel and wit of the first five books, and brought back the single best villain of the Artemis Fowl series, Opal.
So bottom line, if you were like me and felt that the series was kind of falling apart with the books 6 and 7, you should definitely give this book a chance, you will be glad you did. Worth the listen even now that I am older.
