I work at camp and I was able to switch from the book to the audiobook very easily as it became too dark to read. I feel that the narrator did a very good job with this book and I really enjoyed listening.
I really like the characters in this series. Even the villain is familiar- I love to hate her. The performance is amazing, and the ending was not quite long enough but completely enthralling.
This final Fowl adventure is chock full of shocking moments and humorous interludes as the gang gathers for a final battle with the ever-evil Opal!
I am a lover of stories, particularly stories that let your imagination run wild. Just because something doesn't exist is no reason for it to hamper an excellent story from being told. If I can do my work while listening to an excellent story, then I am one happy guy
I grew up with the Artemis Fowl series and continue to enjoy the occasional re-listen when I am working on something else. Imagine my surprise when I log onto audible and there is another artermis fowl book. I was a little wary about purchasing this book because I did not feel that the previous two books were up to snuff compared with the others, but finally I decided that I should listen to the conclusion, if only to know the resolution to a series that I loved when I was younger. And let me tell you, I was very happy I did. Unlike the previous two books, this Artemis Fowl book has the same feel and wit of the first five books, and brought back the single best villain of the Artemis Fowl series, Opal.
So bottom line, if you were like me and felt that the series was kind of falling apart with the books 6 and 7, you should definitely give this book a chance, you will be glad you did. Worth the listen even now that I am older.
Nathaniel Parker once again does a awesome job in narrating the story, this is artemis fowel at its best
I can always count on Artemis taking me along on his adventures. I would recommend these audio books to anyone and everyone. I am glad that Nathaniel Parker is back reading them, too. He puts such animation and fun into the books, showing the kids who listen how to paint pictures in their heads and how to read fluently themselves.
I just love the characters and the adventures they go on. I am glad there are more adventures and hope it will continue. Let's face it, there are tons of ways a kid like Artemis can have adventures...his brothers will see to that.
Eoin Colfer steps up his character descriptions and weaves yet another compelling story between good and evil, friends and enemies.
Loved ALL the characters! Opal is deliciously evil, Artemis is clever and sweet, Foally and Caberline's relationship is explained and its just so sweet.
If you've listened to all the Fowl series with Nathaniel Parker narrating you can't imagine it any other way. His voices for the characters, his inflections, he's just great!
I cried a tiny bit towards the end.
Eoin Colfer should be tied to a desk and forced to write books for posterity.
funny, action-packed, adventurous
I feel that the entire Artemis Fowl series (8 books) is at the very least as good as the Harry Potter franchise. I'm surprised it's popularity hasn't blossomed more than it has.
Nathaniel Parker has narrated all of the Artemis Fowl books, and he has come to be the life of the characters to me. No one else could transition from Artemis's dry deadpan wit, to Holly Short's frustrated outbursts to Foley's egotistical musings as weel and with such ease as he does. He makes every character come to life.
I loved this book. I only hate that it is planned to be the series finale to the Artemis stories.
Artemis Fowl, the teenage criminal mastermind - turned - hero, and his fairy friends Holly Short, Foley the Centaur, and Mulch Diggums the Dwarf of the underground (quite literally!) LEP (Lower Elements Police) - Recon unit, are back in the 8th and final novel in the series. The evil Pixie Opal Coboy has come up with a plan that will cause Armageddon on earth - and it's up to genius Artemis and his friends and ever present bodyguard Butler to once again save the world!
I prefer the audio edition to the printed because Parker brings a life to the characters that wouldn't otherwise be there at all.
I think when Opal realized that it was her clone and not Holly in the cave that was priceless that and when Mulch came riding out on the Troll!
What isn't there to like about his performance? Its wonderful and he gives very individualized voices to all the characters.
An ending and a beginning.
Just an amazing book I think that like what the other reviewers have said about it a full circle happens and that just was what Artemis Fowl is all about!
I liked the character resolution for Artemis and some of the reveals about history that the series kept for this last book.
I might comparet to the Young Wizard series by Diane Duane or Terry Pratchets Discworld series. The humor is cleaner though. Both sereis deal with characters dealing with the supernatural with a mizture of humor and wonder.
Artemis was my favorite of coarse.
While this was a great book in the series it was less than I expected for the final book of the series. I thought there would be more of a final big revelation or change for the final book. But if you liked the series go and buy this book.
