Ms. Harkness has done it again! She has certainly moved the supernatural drama from teen novel to engrossing characters and settings. I anxiously await her third novel.
Ms. Ikeda is stellar. I won't pass her up on another read regardless of genre.
The main couple were great, but I really liked all the extras. After the story really got started the 25 hours was over in a flash.
Her books are very long and slow to start, but once she really starts going the story is great.
Captivating interesting exciting
I liked the story, really liked the way the book was opened.
Diana and Mathew are really a tie.
Glasco, I think he would be great fun.
I have already listened to the book twice, it really is just pure entertainment.
Most definitely! I love the story and I love the charachters. I finished it 10 minutes ago and I already miss them!
I adore her voices! I really like that she has continued with the series.
Wonderful 2nd book in the series!!!
I read the first book and I thought it was better. I enjoyed the characters and the story and thought it was entertaining , but no masterpiece. The ending made me think that a third book is coming , if not the ending is a little weak. I thought the first book was better, the second one had a little much detail on insignificant story lines , but if there is a third book I will read it.
If you enjoy books that have well developed characters, and long woven stories, then you will definitely love this series. I was put off by witches and vampires, thinking I couldn’t possibly relate to such a tale, but I was wrong. With wonderful storytelling ability Deborah Harness leads you through an adventure and love story that draws up shades of the Outlander series. The characters are well developed, and empathetic. I didn’t want to put it down, and can’t wait for the next novel from this new star!
I didn't read the the book. Listening to it gives life to the characters. I could picture the characters, their personalities and motivations.
There were so many, really. I loved the moment Diana enters a room with many of histories most memorable characters, Shakespeare, another playwright, the Queens most trusted advisors. It made me imagine what that would really feel like.
I listened to A Discovery of Witches. It was excellent!!! She was superb with this story because there were many more characters and a more complex plot. She conquered the story.
Yes, but I found that there was so much detail, complexity, and many characters that I had to listen to it a few times to catch all the many side roads.
It was a great adventure and I grew to feel I knew the characters personally. Excellent!!
One of the best I've had the pleasure to listen to.
Too many to list, besides wouldn't want to give away any spoilers in this book.
Discovery of Witches was the first performance by Jennifer Ikeda I've had the pleasure of experiencing, but I have already started to look at more titles with her narrating.
The name is perfect...
Anticipating the next one, and crossing fingers that Jennifer Ikeda will be returning as the narrator...
imaginative, entertaining, well written
How the author brought the main characters back in history and intertwined them with real historical characters and made it sound believable.
The only other performance I've listened to was Discover of Witches. I think she does a great job in distinguishing characters with her interpretation of how they would sound.
There was some humor throughout the book and I felt some emotion at the way the book ended.
I am hoping there will be a third book sometime soon and really looking forward to it.
To me the book started out a little slow and contained a few cheesy sections. Thankfully the story picked up and I was able to enjoy the book. Not quite as good as the first book though.
