I can see the comparisons to FSOG (which i hated, because of the v poor writing and v unlikeable characters plus the BDSM was disturbing but then the scenes unsatisfying) , but i can see if people liked FSOG for the frequent scenes involving a young, dominant, male billionaire, they would like this.
But this book was written by an adult and the characters, though a bit extreme, have generally adult behavior (if admittedly psycho) and i really liked the author's way of weaving psychology and therapy into the story, which is refreshing, rather than expecting such psycho behavior to be accepted as totally normal!
If you have read 50 Shades, don't bother with this one. I honestly can't believe that the publisher has gotten away with printing a book so similar. The author even uses the word "mercurial".
Maybe this book is getting such high reviews because the audio version of 50 Shades got such poor ones. Based on those reviews, I did not purchase the audio version of 50 Shades, but went with the real book. I can see how the narrator's performance could make this seem like the better book, but I don't think it is.
There is nothing wrong with the narrator's performance, though. She did a fine job.
This book is the best read. I haven't even read the FSOG that everyone is comparing this book to. I was totally consumed and I couldn't get enough it. I was sad for the story to end. I just now bought the second book and I can't wait to read it.
I will say.... this book is very erotic and exciting. The narrator doesn't do very good job with male voices, but I become accustomed to it.
Overall.... GREAT BOOK!
The narrator was sublime.
Everything, I was a book widow after Fifty Shades of Grey, this book is very similar without the BDSM, I loved it.
the clarity of the words she pronounced and the perfect timing.
I don't know
I rank Bared to you as more erotic than 50 shades of Grey and very intriguing.
That no matter what Gideon and Eva will do whatever it takes to be together
Yes,I loved the way she narrated the book.
I believe Sylvia Day wanted to 'cash in' on 50 Shades of Grey... but LOST. This book is bad. I read the complete series of "50 Shades", AND it was written in a much classier fashion without the "hard core porn" of this one!!
I am very disappointed.
NO ONE UNLESS YOU ARE A COMPLETE PORN LOVER!!!
NOT AT THIS TIME
ANGER AND DISAPPOINTMENT ON THE CRASS - PORNOGRAPHIC SCENES (EVEN WHEN LISTENING, YOU CAN STILL VISUALIZE)
STORYLINE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO "50 SHADES OF GREY" REALLY?
FIND ANOTHER OUTLET MS. DAY!
NEED TO KNOW THE PROCEDURE FOR RETURNING DOWNLOADS!!!
There was nothing in this book that made me like the characters. It just jumped into the desriptions of the characters sexual acts. There were too many ideas stolen from 50 Shades of Grey and they were not done nearly as well.
The narrator didn't really detract from the book. I guess she did the best she could with the very limited story line.
I have! I have a paperback copy that is made it's rounds to about 10 people so far and they all agree it has the emotions that were missing in FSOG
Eva, learning about her, in this the first book you learn about Eva and her history. The relationships she has with Cary and Giddeon.
You learn about her friends, her coulleges, her family, her job. Sylvia does an excellent job at developing a character, their life, a world. She has an excellent vocab to do the same
I had serious FSOG withdrawal when I found a recommendation online to pick it up! I've now read it three times and am seriously inlove! I am a convert, FSOG what?
It kept you on the edge of your seat
50 Shades of grey
yes, I listened to it in 2 days
Better than FSOG !
Good story - great characters (love Kerry) and great ummmmmm well ...great chemistry.
Her voices were great...
On his knees in the foyer at the end........
I'm new to the audio book thing, after FSOG I wanted something similar, but honestly FSOG was a bit nervracking with the main character (Ana) being RIDICOULOUS most of the time with her "Geez" and "Oh My" - so I was nervous, but this series is SUCH a step up in to the ADULT world of writing. Better story, better characters.....better just better
