Mom of 3 wild and crazy boys, I've become obsessed with books again after being sucked into a little vampire/lovestory series you may have heard of, and now I listen to most books (but read at night) so that I can be somewhat productive during the day and not leave my family and home to collapse around me while my nose is stuck in a book ; )
Top of the list - I bought this book and the next one to read at night and the audio to listen to during the day, and I ended up listening to the whole darn thing! Jill Redfield did such a superb job with all the voices,, and portraying their emotions just right. It didn't sound like she was just reading a script and switching her pitch for diff characters.
Have never listened to her before but thought she was brilliant. So often the narrator simple reads the book. She portrayed the characters and read as one would in their head. She was definitely a big plus.
Very difficult putting it a way for a while. I didn't want to stop listening and I didn't want the story to end.
Have not read the the book.
I love the push and pull of the two main characters as they struggle through troubles.
Ava is my favorite as she struggles to be strong.
I have laughed and cried with both Ava and Gideon through their struggles. I loved the romance between the main characters and that the story shows that all things are not easy.
The sex is hot but the under story is what keeps you glued to the story and not wanting to put it down. Can't wait to see where the story goes next.
This is my favorite in the romance/erotica category. It has definitely been the hottest as well so far! It was written very well I feel for it's category.
The first couple times Gideon and Ava ran into each other and their exchange. I thought it was a perfect lead up to a hot romance. There wasn't too much teasing and not too many chapters before at least you got the hint that the romance was coming. At the same time I didn't feel it jumped into it too quick.
I think her voice fit Ava pretty well. I also enjoyed Cary (sp?) as a best friend. Of course, Gideon was played very well because by the middle of the book my sexual appetite had surged.
If you liked this book - I highly suggest "On Dublin Street" as well. It has a similar type of romance. Girl has semi-asshole guy wanting her and she resists, but in the end can't, etc.
A lot of people have rightuflly compared the Crossfire novels to the Shades of Grey trilogy. They are definitely similar and will appeal to the same audience. There were things about each that I liked better or less than the other. The bottom line is, if you liked one series, I think you'll like the other. I'm looking forward to the third book this summer.
It's a dirtier version of 50 Shades. Seriously, everyone jumped on that band wagon. Entertaining read, but same story, just different names.
The narrator was pretty good.
eh. It helped kill time at work.
Not impressed with the book, so dramatic for no reason, makes women seem ABSOLUTELY crazy, and everything happens so fast. You dont really get to know the characters before they jump into proposals for sex and other weird occurrences that I'm pretty sure would almost never happen in real life. 50 shades wasn't the best novel-wise, but I would read it ten times before I take another look at this one. I was really just waiting for it to get good the whole time.
And the voices, I'm pretty sure I might have liked it a fraction better had I read it myself on paper.
Classics, Biography's, Romance, Erotica. I'm a sucker for a good book!
I was searching for something to give me the same feeling that 50 shades series gave me. This is pretty darn close. Very hard to stop listening, finished with in the day!
This book is a erotic romance. It is and has been compared heavily to 50 shades. But it is a different story, I promise!
The first time Gideon puts his hands on Eva. When he drops by before the event and she has just came home from the gym.
Yes. Very distracting to say the least!
Tell us about yourself!
This book is not a light listen and getting through it almost did me in. Both Ava and Gideon are such tortured souls reading their story made my heart hurt. Although I eventually will want to know what happens next I just can't take it right now and need a break before I go into a depression. I enjoy steamy love scenes but I found them to be a bit overkill in this case. I'd say about 70% of this book is pure sex and I don't find that appealing as I prefer a bit more plot, dialogue and actual romance and Gideon's idea of romance was not exactly normal. The characters also use a lot of crass language during love making which is a huge turn off for me.
It had mult books in the series
She was animated in her narration
If they likes 50 shades, they will like this book. Similar but different
