I enjoyed how Gideon and Ava are so drawn to each other and yet they both have issues to over come and seeing how they work through them.
I like the fact that it uses real life issues.
I like the voices Jill uses to bring each of the characters to life.
It made me laugh, cry, and realize that keeping fears locked inside brings the intimate separation I crave.
Can't wait for book 4
No to Sylvia Day, not only was her entire story minus maybe two details a total knock off to 50 shades of grey it was a desperate and sad attempt. Jill Redfield on the other hand NAILED it and I would totally listen to more of her narration's.
1st most dissuasion ting thing, The plagiarism, I think she should be sued by the writer of 50 shades of grey. 2nd was how sad and pathetic she made the female character... I've never hated a character so bad!
Jill was the saving grace to this book! Her voice fluctuations were perfect!
If you've never read 50 shades of grey you will probably like this book, but I read 50 before this and just couldn't get past how unoriginal it was
It's a shame Sylvia Day can't think up her own story lines, as she is not a bad technical writer
I am a lover of books. I enjoy losing myself in a fabulous romance and great story plot.
4 STARS BECAUSE I'M SUCKED IN…..
I've heard so much about the Crossfire series that I finally decided to dive in….And, let me tell you, I dove into an intricate tangle of drama, emotional highs and lows all wrapped up in the enigmatic Gideon Cross and beautiful Eva Eva Hammel. The writing is very good and we are introduced to both leads in the lively New York City. I was captured by the fact that everyone in this book (main characters) are beautiful, but seriously messed up through childhood sexual abuse. We only learn about Eva's backstory in this book. Both lovers meet and meld into each other due to this undeniable, animalistic, magnetic sexual attraction. Yet, Gideon makes the first move and aggressively pursues Eva.
There were a lot of things I liked about Eva…she's beautiful and has wealthy connections, but is not pretentious. Her mother loves the lifestyle that comes from money and married a millionaire, but Eva seems anchored through the love of her father who is a cop in San Diego. Eva also has an interesting roommate, Cary Taylor who is a model with a climbing career in the industry (who is also seriously messed up & goes further into a tailspin in this book). I liked that, as a heroine, Eva has a feminine vulnerability, but she is also assertive with Gideon. She doesn't give in to him right away, and is not afraid to vocalize why. She is always assertive and tells Gideon hows she feels. I appreciated that she did not hold anything back in the relationship.
Gideon Cross is extremely wealthy as he has his hand in the pot of various businesses, hotels, night clubs, gyms etc. The guy is loaded, but he's also charismatic, gorgeous, striking, with the grace of an animal and exudes a quiet aura of power. I didn't really think that Gideon was an overbearing alpha male…not when he gave in to Eva so much and spent most of his nights at her house. He mentioned some S&M, but when Eva objected, we never heard about this suggestion again….lol
The plot moves forward through a series of experiences between the characters that are emotional, draining and sexually potent. Eva and Gideon are ON FIRE in the bedroom, but outside of the bedroom they can't seem to escape relational problems. I felt Eva's plight with Gideon because he could be emotionally distant, and didn't deal well with the women in his past. Even though Magdalena Perez was disarmed as a threat for the affections of Gideon, a new threat, Corinne was introduced at the end of the book, and I felt a rage and jealously for Eva…..Gideon does not "get it" when it comes to these women…So, I know the drama has only begun since this series which was originally meant to be 3 books is now being drawn out into 5 freaken books!!!!
OMG, WHAT THE HECK DID I GET MYSELF INTO???? If I give in to the sensible part of myself, I will stop at this juncture and wait till all 5 books are released before proceeding. However, if I give in to the unhealthy and curious part of my psyche…the part that is sadistic and inflicts pain without reason….well, I will move forward with this series…..I haven't decided yet.
Narrator: I really liked Jill Redfield. She executed her performance very well.
Fifty shades of grey.. kinda same story line.
She's ok... I personally don't have the time to read.
Wish it had been read by becca battoe.... I absolutely love to listen her. She has a way that brings a book to life.
Love to read
i loved this book..i found the coive to be a bit annoying to high pitched and girlie for me...but i did like the story
I love the Audio Books, can't get enough of them.... Only thing is they should have Male and Female Narrators doing all different voices when is a Male and Female turn to speak on the story and of course changing the voices a little.
Gideon Cross ... Holly GOD this man has me, going bananas ... Man is not perfect but more of a real Man, not too much of a fantasy as it was Mr. Grey.
First time I listened to Jill Redfield and she was great.
Definitely a book you don't want to put down ... the more you read the more interesting the story gets.
Sylvia Day ... Better publish the 4th and 5th book together... A Girl can Only dream :)
Sylvia Day is a consummate storyteller who weaves a wonderful tale that captivates and enthralls from start to finish. I didn't want to stop. Didn't want any distractions to interrupt the telling as Gideon and Ava fall in lust and grow closer despite themselves...
I loved that the reader wasn't monotone and gave the characters life
Sure..I am curious to see where these characters go
Not that I can remember
I Luv Audible!!
So the storyline is about Eva and Gideon and the twist and dramas that unfolds in their individual lives and how it allowed them to become entwined with each other. I suppose you could say its similar to Fifty Shades however the author was able to put a twist to it that would keep her listeners captivated. The sex scenes are riveting and raises a few eyebrows as it becomes enthralling. Surely a good listen and I am looking forward to to book 2.
The narration by Redfield was pretty good. I must admit I am truly skeptical of female narrating male voices. But... she was pretty good and very passionate about the characters that she brought them to full life and had you feeling their emotions.
Good first in the trilogy book of Crossfire for Sylvia Day!
I dont have the print version of the books to make a proper comparison but I will say the audio version is fantastic.
It reminded me of Fifty Shades of course, But I think this was much better written. The characters are great and the story line is quite compelling. I was hooked from beginning to end. .
The narrator was so good. I loved her voices for both leads, punchlines were on point. Every little laugh or sigh made the scenes that much more real.
I was very much moved by Gideon Cross the male lead. We get to understand most of what happened to the lead female but Gideon remained so guarded that whenever we got a glimpse into his past it was that much more heart breaking. I got emotional, I cried. It was unexpected but so very welcomed.
