I really enjoyed the story but the narrator was so void of emotion that I almost stopped listening and bought the book form instead.
Okay seriously you have to have been introduced to the Lords of the Underworld to really enjoy this book. Not to say you can't enjoy this one as a standalone or the start of something new, but the humor of some of the characters may be lost on you. And of course some may find Max's narration a bit off key. The world of demons and angels is introduced to you in the Lord of the Underworld series and not having that back ground, you may fine yourself a little off kilter in this book as it moves along. But the story itself is a good and worth the listen.
I enjoyed the story very much and will look for more books by Ms. Showalter.
The story was ok, but it was almost as if she needed to write something because it's in her contract. Not much action or story line.
Sassy, Fun & Enthralling
I really enjoyed the different voices that he used for each character.
must read: darynda jones, Karen moning, Ilona Andrews, kim harrison, gena showalter, Karen chance, patricia briggs, jeaniene frost ,L taylor,
if you love lords of the underworld you will love this too! if you haven't read/listened to those you should!!! This is a stand alone book and i love that, but reading the lords will enrich the experience. I really liked the plot twists in this book and hearing zach's story! Gena Showalter is always fun and entertaining. each book of hers always has similar things in each one, when it comes to the relationship between the main characters but she always finds a way to make them grab your attention, keep you entertained and wanting more. I agree with some of the others that reviewed the book when they say it was " a little less steamy" we are so used to so much detail and hotness from GS but i wasn't disappointed.
The best way to read.
I liked that the characters were familiar from the Lords of the Underworld series and that the story has unexpected twists. I did not like the lack of creativity that Gena Showalter puts into her stories.
I didn't have a favorite.
No. It was slow and dragged out and not as good as I was expecting.
It was a good listen, but no where near the quality of Gena Showalter's other books.
Wow! An excellent new series!
Zacharel and Annabelle are awesome! I am so glad Zacharel got a chance to ???warm-up???. I have loved him in his appearances in the ???Lord of the Underworld???. Annabelle is a strong female character. They are a perfect couple
Max Bellmore is an outstanding reader! He really made the characters come to life!
The book was full of action, but a great love story!
I suppose this book is ok. The storyline is pretty good and the performance is passing... I'm just a bit confuse... is this Gena Showalter's work?...
I read and listened to all of her books in the Lord of the Underworld series and... this book's way of writing seems to be different... especially the intimate part... when Gena write intimate... wow! she describes everything in details and made it pretty hot... for this book... it seems like the author is a bit shy about details... there's a lot of vagueness that is so different from all the book in the Lord of the Underworld's writing.
The reader has problems changing his voice for different characters, so at time it was pretty hard to tell who's talking. Beside that he's pretty good.
I'm a fan of Gena Showalter writing... this book makes me question if she gets one of her shy assistant to write it for her.
