Believer in what you can't see
I wouldn't know. I only have this series and The Lord of the Underworld in audio form. I find that the added voice creates a better feel for the story than just the book.
I like the approach Showalter makes when bringing the angels and humans together, but I find this series a little more harsher then Lords.
Annabelle coming out of all her problems and still being sane. She still fight for whats right and doesn't back down from a fight. She stands by her angel.
When Zachriel had to choose between his brother who has become a demon and Annebelle. It was really sad that he had to give up one for the other.
Good series. I like this better than J.R. Wards' angel series.
Where to start, this is a great start to this series of the ANGELS in the LORDS of the underworld series. I loved each an everyone of theses books and am eager for the next chapter in each of theses series's. I love the humerus way each of the characters speak to each other at times and the passion for each other in he way they honor there way of fighting and life.
I love his voice and the enthusiasm for each character he reads.
YES definitely laugh, and sad at times for the sacrifices the angels make for the beliefs and each other.
Great read! Love the story line of these Angels! I hope there will be more then two books. Romantic, heart warming, loving and sexy Angels!
I have a real crazy in love relationship with books!!!
I have to say I am highly disappointed with this book. I expected so much more from Gena Showalter. I guess I have become so accostomed to her awesomeness with the Lords of the Underworld that I thought she could do no wrong. So here is what I found fault with:
1. The slow paced story line. All I could think was get on with it!
2. The heroine...I found Annabelle to be very immature and highly annoying. I could have used the novel with her playing a disappearing act.
3. I didn't find Zachaerel to be all that manly, and he honestly didn't have much personality. While he had a few moments where he said something funny, he was just um...lame.
4. There was absolutely no passion. It wasn't about the lack of steamy sex that her novels usually involve, but it was about the fact there was just no passion. I could barely understand why the main characters fell in love with each other.
The good? Max's narration was great as usual.
Attention new readers who have not read this author. Please do not be disturbed by my review. Gena Showalter is great, this book just happens to be an of day and hey we are all due to have one every now and then. If you are interested in paranormal romance, be sure to check out the Lords of the Underworld.
this is the first time I have listened to Gena Showalter and I am glad I did.
this is a great series and I definately would recommend it to anyone who believes in finding your soul mate!!!
the characters are wonderful!!
Say something about yourself!
I would, if you have listen to the Lords for underworld series ( and if you haven't you should) you have been introduced to the characters in this story and their want to be loved yet loyal to their craft draws you in.
Why, Zacharel the lead in the story of course.
Listening to Max always makes listening to audio a very enjoyable experience. He never disappoints.
When Zac and Annabelle really get together for the first time (hot)
Can't wait for the next book in the series.
I really Love Max Bellmore's voice and how he makes each person have their own voice.
There is a major decision that has to be made at the end of the book. I dont want to give anything away but it was intense.
Yeah, he has done a bunch of Gena Showalter's books. Its good!
He had to go into the fires of Hell to find his Heaven.
A fantastic start to a new series I can be utterly, hopelessly, and unashamedly addicted to.
This book has all the elements that made me originally fall for the PNR genre. I love the LOTU series and to launch into this spin-off series set in the same world and also depicting some of the beloved Lords and their spitfire females just makes my want to do cartwheels!
We were introduced to Zacharel and his unflinching, no-nonsense, is-he-even-capable-of-feeling demeanor in the LOTU series. He intrigued me with his mysteriousness and even more so when he showed a flicker of emotion in "The Darkest Secret" when he gives Haidee a piece of Love to help save her.
Wicked Nights starts off with Annabelle locked in a psych institution after being found guilty of murdering her parents and claiming that demons did it. During the four years of her incarceration she battled demon after demon and the evil actions of her caregivers. The constant demon invasion of the psych institution finally catches the attention of Zacharel and his warriors. Zacharel is charged with leading an army of misfits many of which, like himself, are on the verge of falling because of their disregard to rules. As punishment for his past deeds, Zacharel must now hold the actions of his warriors as his own and suffer the consequences.
At first glance, Zacharel is drawn to Annabelle. Because he has suppressed his emotions for a long, long time he is unsure how to reconcile what he's feeling while in her presence. Annabelle has been physically and emotionally hurt by those she should have felt safe with and even loved. So at the moment she met emotionless and cold Zacharel, she is cautious. However, she chooses to go with him deciding he was the lesser of two evils. From that moment on the story progresses, taking twists and turns, shaking you off your feet and making you burst out in laughter at the hilarious retorts of Annabelle and the arrogant, but adorably funny remarks from Zacharel. These two have become one of my favorite couples. I could read anything Showalter puts out about this couple. They could be buttering toast or folding laundry and I'd read it. They compliment each other in so many ways, giving and taking in just the right amount to have balance and true love.
The romance is not the only great thing about this book. The main plot is filled with riveting action scenes and an ending that I didn't predict. The new characters left much to the imagination, making me itch for more on their background story and their future HEA. I can't wait for the next installment! Showalter needs to write faster!
Narrator: Max Bellmore
I like it when series are consistent with the narrator and although this is a different series, it is set in the same world as the LOTU series and I was glad that they kept Bellmore as the narrator. He does a great job with the characters both male and female. He is easy to listen to and is actually one of the few male narrators that I enjoy listening to as well as can understand them while listening in my car.
Note: I listened to this book on 1.5x speed
I started out listening to books for work and now have become addicted. Every where I drive is a new adventure...
I loved the visual imagery provided by the Gena. I could feel the snow coming off of Zacharel's wings at one point. I could feel their passion from the beginning and how strong the bond of love was between Annabelle Miller and Zacharel. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
