The essential story is interesting, but the composition is inconsistent, elementary, and flat. I actually looked up the author to see if he was in middle school because the quality of the writing is at that level. Also, his narration was quite unpleasant, just barely not-bad enough for me to allow the recording to continue to be played in my hearing.
This story was very slow to start. Just when we were about to give up (after about one hour of listening), the story began to get interesting. My twelve year old decided to keep listening after that, but did keep saying, "Why was the beginning so long?" Recommended for fans of fairy tales with a modern twist.
It was so awesome and pretty amazing when they fell into the book and they had a lot of funny and crazy and really messed up adventures with other fairytale characters. It was just amazing.
An inventive, creative, humorous and touching work that weaves the land of Fairy back together, with individual lessons of familiar fairytales brought forward insightfully, and intimations of overarching meaning.
Fun twist on the traditional fairy tales. I had a hard time listening at first. I kept picturing Colfer's Glee character. I think I'd have enjoyed it better with a different narrator.
