this is a favorite of mine.
this rivals the Never-ending Story. I can't wait for a sequential!
Granmother is my favorite
both at times. These characters have never seemed more real.
I can't wait to hear about their next trip.
...this story is just not a strong story ..I don't know who would like it ...I had very high hopes for it !
no not at all ...When you read a lot it is a hit or miss....this was just one of those misses !
I did not like his reading ...Love him ..but not his reading
...don't give up !
I really liked how Chris wove many favorite story tales into the main story. Good Job
I don't think authors should preform their own work. I love Chris Colfer as an actor, but his reading of the story had no character differentiation, no change in voice or inflection.
Kate Redding would have been a great choice for narrator.
I would listen to this book again and so would my kids. It's great for the whole family. It was fantastic on our long car rides this summer. The length is good and because of it I know I can reintroduce it again in a few months and the kids will like to listen to it again. There is always something you miss the first time around due to distractions or potty breaks etc.
That it's a fairytale and it revisits all those stories that we used to be told and believed in. And it really makes you think about the lessons they thought, it gives more meaning and background to simple stories.
Remembering my childhood memorys through the stories
He makes a voice for each of the characters, and being a children's book with fantasy characters it makes them easier to picture, and being the author just brings a little something more to the experience
Almost, honestly there's so much happening in terms of action that you have to breath a little to keep going.
This story is very predictable but it is proficiently written - although far too long for a middle grade novel. Chris Colfer's fake british accents are incredibly annoying. This book doesn't really feel fresh but Colfer (or his ghost writer) is a capable writer who is able to bring these cliches to life.
I thought of this one for grandkids and found that I really enjoyed this read. A whole new look at the classic fairy tales that truly drew me in. I would be interested in more from this author and would not hesitate to download more if offered on Audible.
I am a lover of books. I usually read but have recently began listening to books.
I thought the storyline was awesome. I love reading/listening to a twist on traditional fairy tales.
I don't really have a favorite characters. Although the storyline is great, the characters fell flat for me. They were one dimensional.
Unless Chris is a woman in disguise, he did NOT narrate this story! The narrator, whoever she was, was too flat and boring to me. She read too fast (even at 1x speed she was still quite fast and that was annoying). Also, all her character voices sounded the same. To be honest, I quit listening to her and went back to reading the book.
I didn't really have an extreme reaction but I will say that the writing style annoyed the heck out of me. Some things just didn't make sense. For example he wrote that a character was "beaming with sympathy". Okay, to beam is to smile and if you are smiling, then how are you showing sympathy? There were many sections in the book written this way. I heard the authors writing great improved in the next book. I can only hope this is true!
Please inform people of the true narrator. I would love to hear Chris Colfer narrate
This is the only problem I have with this audio book: Chris, please hire a narrator. Your voice is as unemotional and monotonous as Alex's interest in his teacher. I have yet to get through much of it at once because I cannot stay awake. It doesn't mean you have a bad voice; you just should not narrate unless you can at least learn to change the tone and emotion of your voice. That problem, alone, almost ruins this book for me.
The story was good but it seems like some of the story I've heard it before on a television show called enchanted. the one about Snow White seem like the same story they told on that show.
this is my first book by Chris Colfer I love him on Glee!
if Chris would of slow it down some he talked a little too fast for me, but I like he did the charters in the book .
PLEASE NEXT TIME TALK SLOWER !!
