The story is awesome and it never slows down. I can't wait for the next "Vlad" chronicle. Just when I thought I liked Spade best!!
I love that Jeannine doesn't use the same tired boring story for each of her books (unlike some anthers). She has given Vlad his own unique tale to tell. She did her own research and based him on the real Vlad the impaler instead of using “Dracula” as her base. This book is a must read for fans of the Night Huntress world!
This book fit right into the Night Huntress world, only this time focusing on Vlad! I was very surprised by the ending, but in a good way because it means there will be another installment coming up!
Great listen, I got the book on audio. I love all Jeaniene Frost books I have read. She has a great sense of fun, melancholy and adventure.
I can only compare it to the Night Huntress novels. Since he is another spin-off from the series. On a scale of 1 thru 5 I give it a 3 1/2. Simply because book 2 should kick butt! It felt like J.F. was holding back and I believe she's saving it for book 2.
Any of the Night Huntress books. Vlad is dangerous, scary and funny. It has everything I need in a book. A Naive, mentally tortured and lonely female meets crazed, sexy, dangerous and lonely Prince of boogie men. Characters to love, dislike and hate. Love it!! Leila's family is wonderfully dysfunctional, what's not to like.
The accents are AWESOME!!!! It amazes me she can keep them them straight.
Yes. Vlad's character is always amusing. Now I get to laugh at his henchmen antics too. I laughed a lot.
Great Vlad has his on series, now we get to listen to more of his story line and day to day life. Waiting on more of the love triangle between Leila, Vlad and Max. I am waiting for book 2, out of all the characters from the Night Huntress series Vlad is more entertaining. That's saying a lot, I am a huge Bones fan. :-)
One of my favorite.
It's funny and action packed.
She brings life to the different characters.
The relationship with her family.
Loved the ending; can't wait till the next book comes out.
Yes. I like her story telling. The way she develops each book; her imagination brings me inside each book.
From 1 to 10 a 7.
I don't know.
I was expecting more from him. His points of view and decision making. From her previous books, I like this character a lot. He is a strong man with romance inside.
work with children and dogs, so fantasy is a wonderful distraction!
Of course I am biased from reading the Night Huntress series, but for someone who is not familiar with the series, this is a very good "new" beginning. Layla is the focus of the story in the beginning and there is good character development. Tepesh's is also "fleshed out" well with description and background information. And of course, the ending gives promise of more....I am looking forward to a second novel (please?).
The humor of Jeanine Frost is always a bit ascerbic, but works extremely well with her characters.
I can't imagine anyone else doing these characters, her ability to individualize each character's voice and personality is excellent!
I preferred to listen to it in chapter chunks, but a reader who is truly hooked could do it in one sitting!
I really like that characters of Bones, Kat, and the others were included and hope they will continue to be in the following books.
I love that we get to learn more once again about the history of Vlad. I love the fact he found someone who could actually put him in his place as well as love him for who he was. He has always seemed a loner and I love it when they get together.
I have to say Vlad just because he is such a know it all and when challenge with someone who is not afraid of him it is nice to see him squirm.
When she is kidnapped in the hotel and Vlad is on his way and they seem to be talking to each other. I find the fact the kidnapper are unaware of this very funny and exciting.
I like the title it has now Once Burned it fits it.
I have always enjoyed these books I find laughter, tears, suspense, Romance, and most of a way to escape the real world with theses books.
