The author has done an excellent job at getting all his needed characters to this point. The emotions and roles have been established even before you start listening. The pace of this book is high and keeps the listener engaged throughout.
When the sheriff escapes in to the woods and has to finish one of the attackers. It really puts the death nail in that he has to leave the life he built for his community.
He made most of the characters stand out when he was speaking as them. It really does help when there are so many male characters talking throughout.
More than you enemy at the door.
I love audio book like mostly Sci-fi book s zombies a fav
I was so happy to see that ZA's story could be finished so well I did not like book one but I guess I did enough to get book 2 it was better and 3 was better still. I liked the mix of type of zombies it made for a best of both worlds. I know I'm liking a book when i care about the people in the story. and after 3 books I cared for them. Not a great book but good.
This was one of the greatest endings to a series. I wish there would be more, but hey, all good things come to an end eventually. I was really envolved with the characters and wanted to cry, laugh and punch them at times, which when listening to an audio book a work is not a good thing. Its worth the credit....the ending alone is so packed with action that its worth it.
Nothing, this book was already a 5 star book as it is!
The entire story from start to finish always kept you wanting more!
This story has been done several times over. The "OMEGA MAN", starring Charlten Heston was the first in my lifetime, then Will Smith starred in the next "virus gets out" type story; I forget that titles name.
Anyhow, my problem is I've listened to so many books, I need to find new authors. This book is a simple, redundant, same old virus wipes out everyone, but like usual, one guy is immune. Big surprise there.
In conclusion, the book wasn't terrible. If you have not read "OMEGA MAN" or have seen the latest Will Smith movie, then this book is a 5 on a scale of 10. I have also found a "SERIOUS" drought in truly captivating plot lines or story lines in the last six months. Selfishly, I hope some new books come out which the reader can not stop listening to it.
NOTE:***** I am finding this in "The Twelfth Imam", followed by "The Tehran Inituative!" Go buy them. They are my first two books by this author. I am impressed which is not an easy thing for an author to get from me.
I reviewed a lot of comments about how the story wasnt true to the first two books. Also, complaints about certain characters dying and doing so quickly. So I started the book assuming the worst. By the end I felt it was true to the series and well done. So there isnt the Hollywood everyone and their dog some how lives happily ever after ending ... so what. The focus on this book is different, but everything tied together for me. I thought the end was well done. If you liked the first two books you will like this one.
The final couple hours of the book were great.
I would say the last two minutes. The scene, to me, tied up the intent of the author relative to the sacrifices made in the book.
Not really. Its simply not good enough, charecter deleopment is slow, and to me not to interesting
I would depending on the theme
I love zombie books. always looking for the next good one.
well i had read a few bad reviews and was not sure if i wanted to get let down by a ghost writer...
but i finaly got the book any way and enjoyed the book. some of the people i was cheering for do not make it but over all i think it was a good ending for the book. to bad we lost such a great witer with the death of Z.A. Recht
I'm an avid audible book listener. I am a huge fan of supernatural books and like stuff that is scary but well written. I live in Denver Co
I was so eagerly awaiting this book. I can only imagine how hard it was to step into Z A's shoes to finish this trilogy. So I did not anticipate that he would be able to capture the same humor and vibe of Z A's style and characters but I wasn't going to miss out on the end though.. What was the horrible reality though was how Oliver Wyman totally blew off the characters. None of them sounded the same or even remotely had the same personality! Brewster sounded like an okie red neck not at all the tone he used before. Jack, hello? He sounded like he was from Wisconsin not down under! All in all it was a real let down. Like I said, I didn't expect that the ghost writer would capture Z A, but how could he? He had big she's to fill and kudos to him for going into a situation where he was already down. The real disappointment was Oliver and he's by far my favorite narrator! If I were Thom, I'd be mad that Oliver didn't live up to his end of the deal.
The book also leaves things up in the air so if you expect resolution, you won't get it. :(
