Evanovich is one of my favorite authors and I've read all her books. This isn't up to the standard of her Stephanie Plum series, but it's not bad. As far as Evanovich goes, this is really more of the same so if you want an easy, silly book to lighten your mood without taxing your brain, give this a try. I mean, how can you go wrong with two hot guys with super hero-like powers, a crazy nemesis, a crazy/quirky/funny sidekick, a quest for items with mysterious powers, a monkey who is smarter than some people I know, and a reluctant heroine who prefers baking over saving the world?
As usual, Lorelei King does a great job of bringing the characters to life. If you haven't read her other books you should probably read the first in this new series before this one. If you are familiar with Evanovich you could probably jump straight into this one, though why miss the fun?
This was not my favorite. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good book and it's still worth reading. But, comparing it to any Stephanie Plum books, or even the first Wicked book leaves it lacking. The story just doesn't plow as smoothly as previous books. And it simply wasn't as funny as the other one. I'm still going to be following this series, but I hope this was just a lull.
It was okay but not as good as the first. For me it seemed rushed and missing a few ingredients. I liked the enthusiasm, I loved Diesel, but the story lacked big time. Maybe the next one will be better. I will definitely download the next Wicked so that's a plus, let's just hope Ms. Evanovich will take a little more time with it and I don't know, maybe give it a better ending.
The repartee between Lizzie and Diesel is the best part of the listening experience.
Yes, it was riveting, and at times, it was like a light-hearted Dan Brown search and find novel.
The scene with Ankeny and Lizzie in the bakery was my favorite. Flying bagels and flaming aprons, along with Lizzie's witty chatter with a clearly deranged woman are priceless.
Diesel and Lizzie are a sizzling duo.
Former Waitress, Chargeback clerk, Clown, Florist owner, Clergy. Love series, humor, twists, history, mysteries, not into witches/bondage.
The book is a fun listen. Lots of crazy action and the descriptions are easy to visualize. Even a few outright belly laughs. Nice crazy normal charactors.
I really like the way she creates charactors by voice and inflection.
Yes, to laughter! No real fear here. The tunnel of spiders lighted was funny.
I really like Diesel.
Diesel is one of my favorites.
This book made me laugh pretty much the whole book.
I love Janet Evanovich books. I like the series that over laps with the Stephanie Plum series.
Same characters and thought this would be a new series.
Story seemed to drag
No, but would love to listen to her again. Great performance.
When I finished the book I got a bit depressed as I will miss all the characters until the next book comes out. Would love to listen to the next one as well, and hopefully with the same reader, who did an excellent job.
This was so bad I didn't even finish it. I'm not into this story line, the first Wicked book was allright but will never get another one.
Lots of Fun
The story was really funny, easy to listen to and I cared what happened to the characters.
I get a clearer picture of the characters. She seems to flow into each one effortlessly and they all are believable.
I laughed out loud.
I want more.
