The reader was excellent. Each character had a distinctive voice. You can "see" the characters in your mind by listening to the narration.
Adrian. He is both frustrating and likable. Plus he is discovering who he is. It's a journey that everyone must take.
Absolutely. All of her voices are amazing.
Great series. I'm looking forward to the rest. I just wish that it would be less than a year before the next is available.
My kids think it's funny when they hide my sanity...
Within it's own genre, of teen vampire stories. I would give it 8 out 10.
I love the way Sydney interaction with how Adrian responses. :)
I've only listened her do the Vampire Academy Series and this series, Bloodlines.
I race through Richelle Mead's books - they are too good! Wish she would write faster! Feb 2013? No way I can wait that long!
HURRY INDIGO SPELL!!!!!!
Adrian Adrian Adrian.. Oh, and Dimitri too! I loved having them so much in the book!
I think the end, when Adrian and Sydney have their moment. It was "deliciously frustrating!"
I listened to this book in 1.5 days. Im so eager for the next book. Then realized that this one just came out and I have to wait forever to get my hands on the next. :(
Never trust anyone who doesn't enjoy reading.
I love how Mead incorporated characters from The Vampire Academy into this new series. It's perfect because if you were in love with TVA and sorry to see it end, well you get to reconnect with your beloved characters here in Bloodlines!
Adrian - I really enjoy seeing his character grow and mature from TVA to Bloodlines
Well, she is not the best narrator I've listened to but she does do a great job.
I cannot wait until the next book!!!!!
Totally addicted to books: written or spoken! To read or to listen...? Both please!
sweet ok fun
Liked the scenes with Adrian, of course.
It had it's comedic moments.
I liked that there is a 3rd organization that was introduced. But, it seemed to be not as action packed, mysterious, or fun as the other books. So far Bloodlines is good, but not great. I don't know if that makes sense. This was a good book, just not as good as Bloodlines 1st book. And this series doesn't have me as hooked as Vampire Academy did. But, it is nice to catch glimpses into the lives of the other people from Vampire Academy and see it through their eyes, away from Rose.
Great audiobook. Emily Shaffer did a wonderful job as always narrating. My only complaint is it takes so much longer to listen to an audiobook than it does to read the physical book. I found myself just sitting and listening because I couldn't wait to see what happens. I love the way Richelle Mead has the characters growing and developing. The chemistry between Sydney and Adrian just sizzles and I so hope they end up together. I'll cry if Adrian's heart gets broke again. Storywise, my only complaint was that it felt like it took a while for Mead to reveal what Sydney and the gang's "task" was going to be for this book but with all the conversations and stuff going on with Adrian, I didn't really mind.
Yes I would listen to this again. I have read and reread the Vampire series and I will definitely do the same with the Bloodline series.
Of course it was the kiss. I waited the whole book for it.
Emily Shaffer is one of my favorites. She does an amazing job.
The only thing I hate about audible is it didn't give the first chapter in Indigo Spell. Very disappointed.
I think "The Golden Lily" is a lovely book. It is well-written, moves the major story arcs along nicely, and is enormously entertaining. "The Vampire Academy" series started my YA crush ... I read those six books back-to-back-to-back, finished and said, "Please, ma'am, may I have another?" I wasn't so sure about Sydney as the first-person narrator for this second series in that world, but SHE. IS. PERFECT. Really perfect. I *love* Sydney. She is such a contrast to Rose, the narrator of the first series, and it is an excellent juxtaposition. Rose was wild, impulsive, a rebel in every sense of the word. Sydney is controlled, follows the rules, values order and discipline, and is proper in every sense of the word. And we are watching her blossom like a flower.
In this book, we get to see Sydney start to question the very fundamental values that her world view is based upon. We get to watch her (and a few other characters) begin to explore the notion of love and romance. And we get introduced to a whole new faction in the Moroi/Dhampir/Alchemist world. I loved every minute of this book. And since I listened to this as an audiobook, I should add that Emily Shaffer, the narrator, does a truly fantastic job bringing the characters to life. (The original series went through a couple of narrator changes, which I found very frustrating. I am so glad they have settled on Shaffer, who does great work!)
There are very few series in the YA world that I could think to recommend more highly than this one.
This book is Great!! Sydney faces some serious problems and is really struggling between her groups belief system and what feels right! Plus some budding romances make this an awesome book!!
