Adrian Adrian Adrian.. Oh, and Dimitri too! I loved having them so much in the book!
I think the end, when Adrian and Sydney have their moment. It was "deliciously frustrating!"
I listened to this book in 1.5 days. Im so eager for the next book. Then realized that this one just came out and I have to wait forever to get my hands on the next. :(
Never trust anyone who doesn't enjoy reading.
I love how Mead incorporated characters from The Vampire Academy into this new series. It's perfect because if you were in love with TVA and sorry to see it end, well you get to reconnect with your beloved characters here in Bloodlines!
Adrian - I really enjoy seeing his character grow and mature from TVA to Bloodlines
Well, she is not the best narrator I've listened to but she does do a great job.
I cannot wait until the next book!!!!!
Totally addicted to books: written or spoken! To read or to listen...? Both please!
sweet ok fun
Liked the scenes with Adrian, of course.
It had it's comedic moments.
I liked that there is a 3rd organization that was introduced. But, it seemed to be not as action packed, mysterious, or fun as the other books. So far Bloodlines is good, but not great. I don't know if that makes sense. This was a good book, just not as good as Bloodlines 1st book. And this series doesn't have me as hooked as Vampire Academy did. But, it is nice to catch glimpses into the lives of the other people from Vampire Academy and see it through their eyes, away from Rose.
Great audiobook. Emily Shaffer did a wonderful job as always narrating. My only complaint is it takes so much longer to listen to an audiobook than it does to read the physical book. I found myself just sitting and listening because I couldn't wait to see what happens. I love the way Richelle Mead has the characters growing and developing. The chemistry between Sydney and Adrian just sizzles and I so hope they end up together. I'll cry if Adrian's heart gets broke again. Storywise, my only complaint was that it felt like it took a while for Mead to reveal what Sydney and the gang's "task" was going to be for this book but with all the conversations and stuff going on with Adrian, I didn't really mind.
Yes I would listen to this again. I have read and reread the Vampire series and I will definitely do the same with the Bloodline series.
Of course it was the kiss. I waited the whole book for it.
Emily Shaffer is one of my favorites. She does an amazing job.
The only thing I hate about audible is it didn't give the first chapter in Indigo Spell. Very disappointed.
I think "The Golden Lily" is a lovely book. It is well-written, moves the major story arcs along nicely, and is enormously entertaining. "The Vampire Academy" series started my YA crush ... I read those six books back-to-back-to-back, finished and said, "Please, ma'am, may I have another?" I wasn't so sure about Sydney as the first-person narrator for this second series in that world, but SHE. IS. PERFECT. Really perfect. I *love* Sydney. She is such a contrast to Rose, the narrator of the first series, and it is an excellent juxtaposition. Rose was wild, impulsive, a rebel in every sense of the word. Sydney is controlled, follows the rules, values order and discipline, and is proper in every sense of the word. And we are watching her blossom like a flower.
In this book, we get to see Sydney start to question the very fundamental values that her world view is based upon. We get to watch her (and a few other characters) begin to explore the notion of love and romance. And we get introduced to a whole new faction in the Moroi/Dhampir/Alchemist world. I loved every minute of this book. And since I listened to this as an audiobook, I should add that Emily Shaffer, the narrator, does a truly fantastic job bringing the characters to life. (The original series went through a couple of narrator changes, which I found very frustrating. I am so glad they have settled on Shaffer, who does great work!)
There are very few series in the YA world that I could think to recommend more highly than this one.
This book is Great!! Sydney faces some serious problems and is really struggling between her groups belief system and what feels right! Plus some budding romances make this an awesome book!!
This story picks up right where the last one left off. You will see a lot of change in Sydney. She starts to think and act for herself instead of completely buying the propagand she has been taught her whole life. Adrian starts to straighten out too.
This is a solid YA novel. I wouldn't be afraid to listen to it with my kids around.
I thought it was a good story, but it was pretty predictable. I knew about who was what from the beginning and was seething when Sidney's inner monologue didn't jump to these conclusions. She is supposed to be analytical and intelligent. Being socially inept was not a good enough excuse.
Yes, definitely. The overall experience was enjoyable. Richelle Mead is by far one of my favourite authors.
The fact that i can drive and get through a book at the same time?? No Emily is a good narrator and I love the voices and expressions that she puts into all the characters. Especially Adrian and Dimitri :-)
Mostly frustration. It was killing me that the fledgling romances are not being recognised by certain first party individuals.
I loved the book, however it may be the fact that i waited months for this instalment made it to be a bit of an anticlimax. Still loved it and there were a couple of surprises in there that i didn't expect although most of the plot WAS predictable. I will go back to the book again though. Overall good read.
I love Richelle and I loved the Vampire Academy series and I gave Bloodlines a fair chance and it was good not great as I have come to expect from Richelle but I tried again with The Golden Lily, but I just did not enjoy this book I tried to like Sydney but really her character is irritating and completely unbelievable for me I just can’t relate to her character. In an attempt to make her super smart she comes across completely oblivious to the world around her I found her simply irritating and unbelievable, as I already said. I also wanted to love this book because I love Adrian and I really wanted this series to do him justice but sadly he was done no justice in this book. I don’t believe I will be going any further with this series, when you can’t stand the main character it’s hard to enjoy a book let alone a series. Sydney’s character simply ruined the potential in this book and series, I would love to see Richelle write more in her Vampire Academy and the Dark Swan series.
Moving from the story it's self the performance was just bad.
