I loved this book! I lost sleep reading this story. I loved Edoardo Ballerini narration.
Wow. What a beautiful book. Great performance. Great ending that made me cry. I don't know that I've ever actually cried when a book ended. What a gift.
Since taking my first creative writing class in 2008 the pleasure I used to get from reading has been greatly reduced. I notice things I never noticed before. That said, I think I rate books pretty generously. Anyone who actually manages to write a whole book and then get it published deserves an extra star.
Accessible, but not too obvious, story-line, sympathetic characters - even the ones who are completely self-involved - interesting settings, a satisfying end. What more could you want?
This book has several stories inside the original story and is well-written. The narrator does a great job with accents and I found I liked the book more than I thought when starting it!
His command of the accents
Yes. The depictions of the untraveled Italian coast were great.
It tied-up thing s well. It was what I expected.
It was great.
Classic love story
The feeling behind each character, the Italian pronunciation made it authentic
Would have been nice
I traded off reading the book and listening. The narrator is fantastic which saved me from this rather snoozer of a story. It's a beach read which is okay but at the same time my expectations where higher as everyone raved about this book. New plot lines half way through, lots of characters who I didn't really care much about. The last chapter was a race to just wrap it up and send the book on it's Appian Way. It's a quick read, it has that going for it.
I bought this as soon as I saw the way it was being promoted, but was very disappointed. I found that I didn't care about any of the characters and in fact I could hardly finish it. Partly I think it was a book about celebrities, and unless you're one who reads the celeb news and show business, I don't think you will be much interested in this book. I wouldn't have finished it except it was so promoted by Audible that I kept expecting more. Next time, I'll be less impressed by Audible reviews!!
Sweet, Romantic, Mysterious
He was smooth and did all the accents and voices very well.
I like to flip flop between heavy and light in my reading material. This would be on the lighter side and included some real life figures mixed into the fiction. It takes place both in Italy and the US and takes us back and forth between the 60's and present day. The narrator was very good and the story at times takes you by surprise. I enjoyed it and found myself waiting for opportunities to get back to the book (Always a good thing for me!)
that people were put in the story that you have heard of
no one favorite
good voice for the storyline
