Kresley Cole is an amazing author and that is an understatement! I have to listen to one of her books that I don't like. Robert Petkoff does such a phenomenal job setting the pace and mood throughout the story. The only thing that could make this better is for a there to be a female voice along with him.
I've always wanted to know the story of Bowen and Mariquetta I made the mistake of skipping this book when I have bought several others now I know why Bowen takes such good care of Mariquete and guards her back like nobody this is a really good story and explains a lot. In the past I thought bowling was just up rude and Maricetta I was just arrogant now I understand.
For background, my favorite authors are George R. R. Martin, Robin Hobb, Jacqueline Carey, Ken Follett, Bernard Cornwell, Kevin Hearne, Jim Butcher and Margaret George. My favorite illustrators are Johanna Basford, Millie Marotta, Richard Merritt, and Claire Scully (just to name a few).
I loved the two main characters for different reasons. They both definitely left me fond for their supernatural races.
I definitely laughed and cried during this book.
I've enjoyed the four books I've listened to so far but this one is definitely my favorite. I have a fondness for wolves and Bowen is so very wolfy! He was hard to like at first after what we've seen of him so far in the series but this book completely redeems him in my eyes and I look forward to seeing where this series goes from here.
Always in search of my next book boyfriend. <3
The more I discover about this world that Kresley Cole has created the more I fall in love. This series so far is funny, mysterious, suspenseful, and the sex scenes are panty melting hot! I have not actually read any in the series yet, I've instead listened to them on audio. Robert Petkoff is amazing as a narrator, and he is part of the reason I am hooked. I'm already on to the next one. Right now though I don't know if the next male can top Bowen. Since catching glimpses of him in A Hunger Like No Other you can't help but want him to have his HEA. He of course has his work cut out for him with Mariketa the Awaited, she thinks she is weak, but in reality she is far from it.
Kresley Cole is an amazing author. Anything she writes is credit worthy. I honestly can't believe the amazing price of this book especially considering how much some audible books cost. Also Robert Petkoff is by far the absolute BEST narrator I have ever heard. Oh the brogue on this guy! I do not say that lightly and I have listened to hundreds of audio books. Anyone who tries one of Kresleys books will love it. whether they are into the paranormal genre or not.
I was so excited for Bowen's story. It wasn't what I was expecting to happen though. I truly believed it would take a different route. In the end I'm not disappointed about Mariketa. She's your typical young newly formed witch. Very neo- classic.
This story was very entertaining and I wonder what is next in line for love happiness. Great job Kresley!
Kresley Cole does it again. I love all the IAD, I own the paperback, digital copy and now the audio version and Robert Petkoff does it again. wonderful story, characters and narration.
There was a plot here, there truly was. And once we got through all of the angsty, "I want you/I don't want you" back-and-forth and the excessive sexual nonsense - it was GREAT. 2/3 of this book was emo. b.s. and parts of it even had me grumbling at the characters and their stupid bickering. It is obvious she can write a good story, because it was there. In the very beginning, and then again in last handful chapters- that's where it got interesting - then *boom* it was over. What happened in the middle? honestly you could skip the mid 6 hours of this book and miss exactly 0 character development.
Narrator again was wonderful... though his voice for Bowen in his werewolf form sounded like he shoved a wad of cotton in his mouth and it was rather distracting.... RP otherwise is great.
