pretty good filler story about what happened after the death star destruction. the voice reading does a great job and the background noises immerses you right into the book.
If you love Star Wars then these books are a must listen/read. Even though they are no longer cannon after the Disney buy out, the book still provide so much entertainment and the same classic Star Wars feel of the original trilogy.

like watching a movie in your mind. music sound effects and outstanding voices done by the narrator makes all seem alive. great story and stays true to characters
it might be the voice acting but the female characters feel whiney and weak which is completely contrary to the rest of the star wars universe.
An incredible story that is beautifully performed - a perfect mirror to Strikes Back and yet it's own story as the second in the trilogy. A must listen for any true audio book star wars fan!!!!
pretty dang good. too bad it isn't cannon anymore but I hear they are writing a new thrown book. Only complaint is that sometimes the heroes get out of trouble too conveniently and that the author uses the word "sardonically" way too much.
No other Star Wars author can hold a candle (or mini lightsaber, if you prefer) to Timothy Zahn. If you know the history of the Star Wars franchise, you know that many credit Zahn's work with reinvigorating it at a crucial point in its history.
His writing is superb. His plots are fascinating and intertwined with the existing Star Wars universe in a way that few can accomplish. His characters are some of the best I have met.
If you haven't read Zahn's Star Wars books yet, start NOW with "Heir to the Empire".
Timothy Zahn tells a great story here. He tends to rely on the same verbal tricks, and eventually his narrative style will get pretty predictable, though the story is anything but. Marc Thompson ably narrates the action, backstopped by classic Star Wars musical cues and sound effects. All in all, I really enjoyed it.
