Gillian Flynn has created a masterpiece. Although I had some difficulty paying attention during the first half of the book, I was hooked when the mystery began to unwind. I was never sure how the story would unfold, and I still don't know who got the last word.
The book was recommended by my daughter-in-law and it was well worth the time, I can't imagine how much effort it would take to craft a book such as this. Gillian was in like Flynn!
No one that I know that has read this book
this was just plain weird
Yes, It was a nice lil story to listen to while doing laundry ;)
Not on the edge but curious yes.
Curious about the movie coming out.
My name is Diane Heine not Larry Bruce.
I have no idea. I hated the format. So hard to finish
I still like mysteries
The reader was ok but the story and format was not. Don't know how or why they would make a movie from it.
It caught and held my attention via pure storyline.
Never really liking any character as the story unfolds, but able to picture them.
Different characters, different points of view.
Neither and both. They did equally well.
I was disappointed when it ended.
The Fatal Attraction of this generation.
This book is superbly written, performed perfectly by narrators Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne, and plotted to perfection.
It will keep you guessing, will make you wonder which one of these two people you should be rooting for (you flip flop several times), and ends in a way that delights.
After reading a string of bad to mediocre books, this one has restored my faith that there are excellent writers out there.
After all the hype I heard about this book, I was really disappointed in the story. I thought it would be a good murder mystery type and instead i got a twisted money pit story with a married couple showing how crappy they can be to each other and the ending was ridiculous.
I got so absorbed in this audiobook that I was listening to it even when I should have been doing other things. I was fascinated by the fact that I found the story so compelling even though the characters were so unlikable. There wasn't a single character I could identify with, and yet I couldn't put this book down. This was my first Flynn book, and I will certainly be looking for more!
Since so many people liked this book, it must be me. This was a painful experience. I listen to anything and everything, and love history, romance, mysteries, thrillers, fantasy, and humor. I was looking forward to this book, and I had saved it for a long weekend. I started the book in the car when I left home for the park where I walk and listen to my books. I didn't even get out of my neighborhood to the main road when I had to stop and turn the thing off. It couldn't have been more than a few minutes, but I couldn't stand another second of the story. Painfully awful to me - I wish I could wash the words from my memory. Awful, awful, awful. I am not saying not to read this book, but I recommend that you try the sample first. With all the high ratings, I didn't even think about trying the sample. Learned my lesson. I would give this minus five stars if I could. I have struggled through books I didn't enjoy, hoping they would get better, or trying to find something in them that was worth the time. I would not even consider listening to one more word of this book. This book was not for me. I will avoid anything by this author in the future.
