This is a good book. I hope that Gillian Flynn writes a sequence because this cannot be the ending of this story.
One of the most memorable moments of Gone Girl was the last part, which I am not going to write about. Unexpected and twisted ending. Nick did not deserve that.
I loved Julia and Kirby's voices they were perfect for the book.
The end made me angry and I could not believe it. Also, sad and kept me in the edge of my seat.
Awesome book. I want another a sequence.
This book is well written, but it's hard to care about characters who suck so much as people. I had to force myself to listen to the whole thing.
Couldn't make my commute to work without audible! I finally found the perfect perfect way of always having an audiobook at hand! Can't wait to explore new genres and expand my book knowledge even more!
The story was great. I liked the perspective and being able to see both sides of the story. The ending- oh the ending. Yes, it wasn't exactly what we all would have wanted but I do not think that is any reason to not read this book. Overall it is a fantastic page turner and extremely enjoyable to listen to.
I doubt it.
The main characters were well read but the others were not confusing.
read books by other authors
storyline was not believable. And ending was not well thought out.
Well spent? no, because I thought the ending was just crappy. I did not like these people and I thought the f-bombs were distracting.
"Go" because she seemed the most real
Wow. was disappointed that I just did not like these people. From about the middle of the book until the end I could not stop listening but the ending just made me nauseous. Both of the main characters evolved into just sick people. And they get away with it?! Yuck
I had to take a 13 hour drive and needed something to keep me going. This did!
There was never a time on my long journey where I felt like I needed a listening break. I was so caught up in this book with it's twisted plot, I felt sad when my GPS told me I only had one more hour to go. By the time I reached my destination (2:20am) I thought, " How can I stop and get out of my car." I was so curious as to what was going to happen next, I sat there in my car to listen just a little more, just a little more, no really just a little more!
I've never listened to Julia Whelan or Kirby Heyborne, but they did an excellent job. A reader can really make or break a book for me.
The point is that for 13 hours I didn't need any coffee or an energy drink. This book had all the energy I needed to keep me awake!
Read it! You won't be disappointed! That I know fro sure.
I have never listened twice to an audiobook but as soon as I finished Gone Girl I had to start it again to see what I had missed and how the plot twisted. Really great story - never saw it coming.
Boy meets Girl
They did a great job with the separate voices for all of the characters.
The story is riveting, exceptionally well-constructed, the characters are incredibly compelling and unique, and the performances are spot on.
Two outstanding readers, a man and a woman, bring this he said/she said story to vivid life. I kept coming up with excuses to take another long walk so I could keep listening. (It really interfered with work!) When his wife vanishes on their fifth anniversary, a 30-something man is left looking back over their life together in search of clues. The reader's sympathies shift from one to the other as credibility shifts and new evidence comes to light. I simply could not stop listening and sought every opportunity to sneak in another chapter. I could not guess where the story would end. Alas, the one negative: the denouement strained credulity and left me unsatisfied after an otherwise excellent story and top-notch reading.
Yes, absolutely. I would love to go back and listen the the details all over again.
Every moment of this book was wonderful just until the very end. I didn't love the ending but I loved the rest of the book. Loved the performances by the narrators so much that I continue to find myself talking like them. I have to catch myself or else I sound psychotic like the people in this book. Couldn't get enough of this. Sad it's finished.
