No. Not very upbeat and there is no feel good parts as it went along.
For people who liked the book it needs a follow up.
One of the best, if not the best, audiobooks I have listened to so far.
The two perspectives of Amy and Nick were very well written and performed.
This was my first time hearing them perform.
A surprise at every turn...
Really great book. I will be looking to read and/or listen to Gillian's other two books.
I read from almost every genre but I do love a good science fiction. When not listening I'm camping with my Girl Scouts, baking or at work.
In the details.
The division of seeing the story through both Nick's eyes narrating and Amy's eyes diary entries kept me guessing as to who was telling the truth...and wanting more. One minute you're sympathetic to one and then the next, you're solidly behind the other.
There was, of course, never a confusion as to who you were listening to. Julia nailed Amy's clear understanding that she was superior to everyone else, more intelligent and deserving.
I was disappointed in the ending. In a book so involved with details, contingencies, and advance planning - that Amy should walk away from a "self-defense" murder so easily was unsatisfying. Det. Boney was portrayed a "stick-with-it" pitbull who believed in Nick. I think she would have kept going.
This is one of the best books I have read/listened to in a long time. It was captivating and written to slowly expose certain details. The character development was excellent. I would highly recommend this book!!
It took a few minutes to get into the story and the red herring was sooo red that you knew it had to be. Great plot twists, fun to listen to, and very entertaining. Not too happy with the ending but......I'm not a writer. would recommend whole heartedly.
YES! This is now in my "BOOKS TO LISTEN TO AGAIN" folder. So complex and constantly entertaining that I look forward to listening again down the road (of time)
This book has more twists and turns than any I have heard in a very long time. It's exciting, interesting and entertaining all the way through. The only disappointment was the end ... BECAUSE it ended!
I'm now going to go check out the authors other books. I can only hope that her earlier work is close to this one. If so, I will be very pleased indeed! GREAT JOB AUTHOR! GREAT JOB NARRATOR!
My favorite character was Amy. Never under estimate a woman.
There were so many. To tell would be a spoiler
Yes, but I couldn't because I had to work.
The twists in this book were amazing. I found myself going back to see what I missed. I thought I had it, then twist, now I got it then another twist. This was a very fun coaster ride. I recommend to all.
While the story was somewhat compelling, I really couldn't stand either of the main characters by the end of the book. And I hated the ending. The foul language throughout also didn't sit well with me.
I love a good thriller. This book gave an interesting twist to the thriller genre for a while, but it got very old after the mid-point and never regained my full interest after that. I had to finish it to find out what happened, but I wasn't at all rewarded for my efforts!
Yes, I Loved the narrators - they did such a good job of fitting the characters.
The surprise twists! Just when you think you know what has happened to Amy - there is a surprise twist!
They made the characters come alive for me
Both - I found it very humorous - and then very sad!
Yes because my wife has the print version. I got her to listen to my audio version and she was amazed how the story came to life a lot more by the excellent readers.
The twists and turns definitely keep your interest high
not that I know of
