Romantic, twisted thriller
I loved that Amy's voice had such personality. It was a tone that resonated with me.
It made me gasp and laugh quite often. There were many playful, funny scenes but also many unexpected events.
The story was well written and performed well. I really didn't know what to expect. There were surprises every few chapters and was incredibly entertaining. I could easily re-listen to the whole thing, possibly even read a physical copy :)
Yes. The writing was good, and there were several metaphors and descriptions that were outstanding. I got a good sense of the characters. On the narration: sometimes the characters came off a little whiney, but perhaps I would just read them differently. The portrayal of devolving Amy was particularly good.
Twists and turns in the plot. Just when I was getting a bit bored, the story took an interesting turn into another adventure. And I was happy to go on another ride with the characters.
Yes. There was nothing boring about the narration.
I enjoyed the great majority of the book, but the ending just did not make sense to me. I saw opportunities for the characters to reveal the diabolical manipulations being visited on them, so the fact that they allowed defeat just didn't fly with me. I was disappointed in the end. But the book was a good read. And I would read Flynn again, and listen to Whelan and/or Heyborne again.
I think it only fitting to describe this book as Amazing! I was so drawn in to this story and the characters. I couldn't wait to see how the next part would unfold. I highly recommend this book.
At first I thought the male voice was kind of dull and lifeless but it feels very natural after a while, the girls voice is perfect. The writing is clever and witty and the story is brilliant. I enjoyed it immensely!
I thoroughly enjoyed this entire book! Wonderful character development and very well written. I didn't really know much about this book before listening to it, surprisingly! I found it to be completely unpredictable, full of great twists and turns that I did not see coming. And I LOVE that!
Insane. It was an insane book that turned out nothing like a thought it would. The narrators took some getting used to, but once you got comfortable with their voices, they were great, especially the emotion in their voices. Thought the "Amy's done this framing thing before" was a little much (like, really? She's done it THREE or so times??) it was unnecessary and I thought it demeaned her and nicks situation a little, like, made it less of a special case. Besides that! An infuriating, sickening, amazing book to listen to, I highly recommend it.
