"Overall good read, slow in places."
Perhaps a more interesting voice for Julia, although I couldn't pick out a particular actress with this accent.
A good compelling read finished too soon.
"Could not stop listening."
A true rollercoaster of a book. I was totally able to immerse myself in the story. Very glad I hadn't seen the film first.
slow to start but wow can't get enough hope it doesn't end. loving every minute. well done.
Clever, Unexpected and Gripping
I loved the end, it really speeds up at the end, and the twists are great.
They were all done well
It wasn't a moving sort of book, it's a who dun it, with a number of plot twists.
I very much enjoyed it, I'm told its not the same as the film ( but I haven't seen the film), I could not have predicted the end ( I hate books that are obvious) and I couldn't wait for the next chapter.
"Great story, cleverly thought out plot"
Only cause I can listen to it in the car
Amy, a character with depth
They bring emotion to the story although at times it sounded too edited for me
No but I did think it was extremely clever, I'm looking forward to watching the film next
"A highly original thriller"
The plot is so carefully constructed that it keeps you guessing until the very end.
I ended up liking Amy even though she isn't written as a very likeable character.
This book has been hyped so much there isn't much left to say, but I would highly recommend it to friends of psychological thrillers.
"Actor voices were so well suited to the story"
I'd recommend the book …its a long listen …but extremely well done and the performance by both actors is super.
I think it probably works best as a read - but the actors brought it to life.
"didn't like it"
I didn't like it, Is what I didn't expected about the book, I was expecting more action but no
"Takes a while to get going but then - wow!"
I struggled with the first hour or two of this, wondering what all the fuss was about as the two protagonists waffle through their rather dreary failing marriage. Even the wife disappearing does not quicken the pulse. I was considering ditching it, but some long DIY jobs kept it going in the background. Then some way in, it transformed into one of the most complex, well thought-out thrillers I have ever listened to. The twists are many and unsuspected and yes, then I understood why this book is labelled "addictive". I will not spoil the plot because that really would ruin it, but it really comes together wonderfully.
So it is 4 stars because of the rather slow warm-up, but I really would encourage you to try and stick with it, you will not be disappointed.
"Great thriller/who dun it"
Mystery, twists, addictive
It kept me guessing and kept me hooked for the whole 19 + hours
Helped me understand who was talking and whether in the past or present
No idea, I wouldn't of bothered with the film which I hear isn't great
