There is an issue with how the audio was recorded. The first part of a word on a new sentence is cut-off because the mic kicks in too late. Words that start with letters like "T" or "Y" and unfortunately "A" (as in Adam) gets cut off. When the narrator speaks instead of hearing "The mother of Adam" you will hear something like "ha mother of Adam" or Instead of hearing "Adam met up with his friends, and..." you will hear "Dam met up with his friends" I kept going back thinking, "what was that? Who is Damn?" To figure out this recording is a mess. It got to a point where I could not take this poor quality audio any longer and returned to book.
This book helps me to appreciate our military even more. Adam Brown also shows with a lot of dedication you can accomplish anything.
Adam Brown proves that adversity can be overcome and a person really does have a choice in how they live their life. Adam chose to overcome adversity and live his life as a hero.
This story completely threw me off at first I thought.. This is going to be a high speed seal book this will be awesome! something to charge me even more as a patriotic American little did I know this story would have a way bigger effect on my life. god led me to this book to help me realise what really important. Adam brown was a great man of faith and struggles and a bad ass American I look forward to meeting him some day!
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone that loves America and the warriors that are willing to pay the ultimate price to defend our freedoms.
Adam Brown. This great man overcame more tragedies in his life than I could ever imagine. The words quit or give up were not in his vocabulary. He loved Jesus, his family, friends and his country more than I thought was possible. I pray that I can be half as good a man as this great man.
The life and trials of a American Hero.
This audio book is fantastic! I am impressed and inspired by the story of Adam Brown and the rest of the military community. This book is a must read if you enjoy military or inspirational books!
I have been listening to audio books for years and especially I am fan of Special Forces (Navy Seals etc). I think this book should neither be under Bios, Memoirs nor Military History section. It should either be under Religion or fiction (even though it would be a very lame fiction book). I don't mean the story is fake. But the way it is presented is like a pastor giving a sermon or a very cheesy lame fiction movie. Instead of getting this touchy feeling, I feel like puking from excessive praising of God, calling from above, praying etc.
And come on! In order to show a person's greatness, the author doesn't have to go in such a way that glorify the character too much up to the point he become so lame. If I can, I would return this audiobook straightaway. But for some reason audible block me to return this book. But I have happily removed it from my listening devices.
I've have read many, many military biographies. This is probably THE BEST I have ever read. It has everything. It is a story of a troubled, drug-addled kid with a good heart who reinvented himself and became a navy seal. I can't imagine anyone having to go through more to become and remain a member of seal team six. Just to give one example of what a bad-ass this guy was, he had his shooting eye shot out during a training exercise. He then decided to go to seal sniper school and finished first in his class with only one eye. This book is full of these types of amazing anecdotes about Adam. It is also a very moving book that will thoroughly engage you and possible cause you to cry from empathy. I always recommend this book first to anyone interested in soldier biographies. If you like these kinds of books, this is a "no-brainer", mandatory purchase. You cannot not like this book. It is impossible.
