Moved to Bettendorf, Iowa and enjoying it tremendously.
The intellectual honesty, the faith practiced and observed,
The honesty and faith observed and practiced by Adam and his family.
Just read it or listen to it. The narration is superb.
I was captivated by this book in its entirety.
Adam Brown's story is not smooth, and his desire to have the good and bad shared is selfless. It will inspire any person who feels a little demotivated or lost, or who feels that past mistakes may not be redeemable.
Whilst I am not a religious person at all, I respect religion and a person's choice to believe, so the focus in some parts on Adam's faith did not bother me. In fact, I think that it was integral to his story and at least demonstrates the a belief - in self or a greater being - might be necessary to live the fullest life possible.
This is my first audio book, so I'm not sure if it's common, but the male reader softening his tone or speaking in a slightly higher voice when quoting females made me laugh and also made me feel it was a little disrespectful, but I don't think it was intended and overall I found the audio book very pleasant to listen to.
Finally, the book is a tribute to incredible Service personnel and their families and friends (whether or not it intends to be), all of whom we should be grateful for.
The author did an absolutely outstanding job with this book. The story of this great American is excellent. Loved it.
If you are not a religious person, you will have to suffer through multiple periods of Bible talk but the rest of the story makes it worth it.
The narrator has one of the best reading voices I've heard so far on Audible.com...his main reading voice I should say. He has a silly, soft, southern-accented, female character voice when reading conversations that truly is annoying but you just have to power through it because the story truly makes it worth it. There is a lot of conversation written into this book so I'm not sure how else it could have been done better, but it does detract from the listening experience.
Well done all around, though...so well done that I am now visiting the web pages associated with Adam Brown's life mentioned in the author interview at the end of the audiobook.
great story well worth the read. just don't buy it if your looking for a book like american sniper or lone survivor there is nowhere near that kind of action in this one. but his story is so amazing it males up for it
Great read and one that every young man or woman should read. It is a story of redemption and sacrifice, something that seems so overlooked in our modern age.
it has been over five years since i first herd and seen a man put God first and it is true NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE QHEN GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE. Ialways use this book to show others i help lead rhem back to successful life.
