I absolutely love this book. I had the opportunity to hear Bob speak at an event I attended a year ago. I never heard of him before but I was so impressed with him live that I decided to pick up his book. It was one of my best decisions I've ever made
The Book is a collection of stories of a life well lived and makes for an excellent read. The stories in this book will encourage you in, inspire you and give you the hope that your life can make a major difference in the world... If you have hope, a heart for serving others and do everything that love requires.
This book is narrated by the author. That totally makes it worth the listen. The performance does not feel like someone is reading a script but more like Bob is sitting down with us for coffee and sharing the stories. The total run time is about six hours and not one minute will be wasted. You should check this out today.
Bob Goff challenges us to live life big and to never let impossibilities stand in our way. If our God is for us, then who can ever stop us? Beautiful book, beautiful stories.
This book is a funny, amazing and inspiring reminder that "love" is a verb. I recommend it to anyone who wants to be inspired to do what God has put into your heart. Don't think; don't worry; don't plan. Just do it! Show the love of Christ and live a life of whimsy!
Lover of life and lover of books! I read/listen to a wide range (many) but my favorite non fiction are self-help and autobiographies.
Overall, this is an excellent book filled with stories, life events, and excellent challenges. Bob is someone who took the word Love and put it into action. Not everything he 'quotes' stating it is from the Bible lines up with scripture, but his overall action shows a true and honorable heart. I recommend it as a book to challenge, encourage, and make a person think about the value they are adding in the world.
Inspiring book, I would absolutely recommend it.
Like the accessible theology presented - could give this book to anyone.
Would have liked more 'everyday' examples. After each fun and inspiring story of adventure, whimsy and generosity I do und myself thinking two things: How cool! And, how unrealistic for most working class people. (Cue Debbie Downer sound effect.) I would have liked ideas transferable to the "Everyman" who want to live with Goff's unapologetic passion but who has to work two jobs to provide for their family.
Even so, I'll likely listen to this audiobook again. That good.
