I LOVE TO READ!!! Reading has been a favorite pass time to me since I was 12. As I have gotten older I found little to no time to pick up a book. Audible is a life saver. I will read anything, but I spend most of my time with Fantasy, Sci-fi, and a little Romantic Comedy on the side. My favorite authors are Steven King, George R.R. Martin, Robin Hobb, Brandon Sanderson, Jim Butcher, Michael Sullivan, Patrick Rothfuss, and Molly Harper.
Yes..... I have had a great time thus far listening to this series.
I think the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, and the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher. I like the way that the story draws you in with the characters. There is also a good flow to the stories. Good mixture of real life, action, and the fantastical.
No. His performance is excellent in this series.
I downloaded this the same day I finished the first book in the Riyria series and am still quite happy with the story. I've known the answer to the "big mystery" since about a quarter of the way through the first book (at least I think I do - still have to finish the series, obviously) but I still feel an incredible sense of suspense listening to these books. It's a fine balance for an author to strike between revealing enough hints about where the story is going, but still keeping his readers guessing what will happen moment to moment. It's so much fun to read something where the big story arc is clear, but all the little details are so unexpected.
Also, this has to have one of the most understated but sweetest love stories I've read in a long time. It's perfect.
I didn't give it 5 stars because the ending was not satisfying. It annoyed me a little that the book was so long and still nothing was resolved. But I suppose that's why there is a third book... which I've already started listening to.
I only review the best and the worst. Mediocre is left to the listener.. Follow me on my quest of the best epic series and narrators!
Yes, without question. There is lots of foreshadowing in the series, and it's obvious the author had the story planned out from the beginning. To me, a good book has a great story, but a great book has great characters.. And you can't help but care about the characters in this book.
There's no one moment, but I will say that it's very satisfying to have hunches about the main characters, Royce and Hadrian, and find out that your hunches are right. The author gives very little away about their background, and just gives nuggets as you go. Enjoy this, it's one of the best elements of the book.
I owe him an apology. I bashed him on his performance in his performance on against all things ending, and I didn't realize he was narrating this series till after I bought the first book. He is BRILLIANT. His voices are fantastic, and I'm now a huge fan.
The unfolding continues, as the adventures go to the next step. The plot definitely thickens in Book 2 as main characters and the larger story line develops. I confess to be a little curious as to the mindlessness of Thrace (akk am I spelling that right? Given listening, I am not sure), now Empress. Regardless, this is a fun story, no great literature but great escape, well read. The plot and characters have unexpected twists that keep the story fresh.
The performance is great! I haven't read the book. However, the audible edition is just great!
I like all of the twists and turns that the book takes. There's a new angle after every chapter.
There are so many scenes that I love! I can't just pick one.
I look forward to hearing about Amelia and her continued relationship with the Emporess.
And Tim Gerard Reynolds' inspired reading only makes the book that much better.
The characters are compelling and the story epic. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Yes, without a doubt. I'd go so far as saying that the Michael J. Sullivan's Riyria Revelations series should be required reading for anyone who considers him or herself a fan of the fantasy genre. The author is a master storyteller and his ability to weave multiple plot lines together across the entire series totally amazed me.
