I love this audio book. I have listened to it many times over and over again on the way to work each morning. It inspires me to keep pursuing my goals and dreams of being self-employed. Almost there ...
I absolutely love this book. A lot of good information shared, and all of the stories very relatable I referred to it multiple times and I found it to be a tremendous resource.
While I rated this book pretty well, I do have some issues with it. For example, one of the sample "$100.00 Startups" is a couple who was running a furniture making business... on 28,000 acres of land. One day, after a fire hit their furniture workshop, they got the odd idea that they could use their 28,000 acres they just happened to have, for a "cowboy experience". So, they refurbished multiple buildings into "bunkhouses" and started a business. Hardly a "$100.00 Startup."
That said, I would encourage anyone interested in dumping the 9 to 5 office life to get this book. I've listened to it perhaps 10 times and still pick up something new each time. A lot of What the author says is available elsewhere. But the information is presented in this book in a nicely organized, positive, and helpful manner.
I would have liked having the links to additional resources that are mentioned in the book, still available, but time marches on. They are still available on the E-book version I think, just not on his actual website.
While there are examples in this book of people just getting lucky in their businesses, with marketing, the book is pretty clear that you will need to WORK HARD to make your $100.00 Startup work for you. The author covers a wide range of businesses from brick and mortar retail, to information publishing.
Again, well worth the price and time listening.
I 'm a picky reader and I love inspirational books! I also enjoy any book that is full of great quotes and memorable imaginative moments. :)
There is so much to take in with this book. It's a lot! And the book is 8 hours long. Lots of detail and examples. I suggest you have a laptop or pen & paper in-hand as you listen to it. This way you can take notes and answer all questions, you can also jot down ideas and get clear about your business pursuits. I found this book to be very helpful in starting my business.
lost track after first 5 chapters. story narrated and the way narrated is really boring
This book has a wealth of valuable information about how to start and grow a small/micro business. As a new entrepreneur, it is helping me build confidence and take action. You could read this book today and start your business tomorrow!
Brutally pedestrian. Seems written for someone who's less than a business/startup novice, but rather someone who just wants to hear a lot of inconsequential anecdotes.
The author's approach to his subject matter is too broad, so it's hard to glean any discernible or homogenous takeaways from the various stories.
A healthy dose of objective data would quickly improve what he's trying to accomplish here.
