Like the romance, but love the action involved to get there!
I’m always worried about historical novels…will they get the language right, will they hold true to the themes of the period….but since it was Maya Banks I had to take a shot, and was NOT disappointed! Wonderful story, and series, that made me laugh and made me cry. Couldn’t have asked for more!

"Seduction of a Highland Lass" by Maya Banks was just another one of her excellent emotional, hot, sexy romantic reads that only she can produce for us. This was another Scottish historical novels...the second in the McCabe Trilogy where Alaric has been attacked and gets in the hands of an 'Angel or his devil' by the name of Keeley. Keeley was a 'healer' and tends Alaric wounds. Later, Alaric brothers comes and not only take Alaric to their home but also takes Keeley...against her will, however since she had been tossed out of her clan...and had some feeling for this man who was unconsciousness...she goes with the McCabe brothers and this wonderful read takes off to give us only a excellent amazing read that only this author can give to us.
The characters were all well defined with such personalities that only will kept the reader reading to only get more. Though Keeley had saved Alaric in the beginning...will Alaric be able to save her in the end? Will Alaric accept his responsibilities? Now, this is where I say in order to find out the answer to those questions you must pick up this second series.."Seduction of a Highland Lass" to find out what is in store for both of these two people. Be ready to laugh and even tear up some on the ride in this wonderful read.
I found "Seduction of a Highland Lass" a read that I could not put down until the end. If you are in for a excellent 'Scottish' romance you have come to the right place and I would definitely recommend this novel to you.
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
The second installment in the McCabe series is even better than the first! The first book ended with Alaric McCabe agreeing to marry Rionna MacDonald in order to create an alliance against Duncan Cameron. On his way to the MacDonald land, Alaric is brutally attacked and left for dead. He barely escapes in his horse and is rescued by Keeley MacDonald. She is an outcast who lives alone. Keeley nurses Alaric back to health and in the process they fall madly in love. The problem is, the alliance between the McCabes and the MacDonalds is vital and urged by the King so Alaric cannot betray his clan and must marry Rionna MacDonald.
I must say this second book is twice as steamy as the first one. There's even a highlander style bondage scene that was a-freaking-mazing! Oh I can't get enough of that highlander lovin. .. one of the things that I liked most about this story is that it kept me wondering how in the world Alaric and Keeley would be able to make their relationship work. Be warned: you will need a box of Kleenex towards the end. So emotional!
Narration: Kirsten Potter once again did a wonderful job narrating this series. Great accent, great male voices and she added the emotion and intensity needed to take the story to the next level. This story was definitely a highlander treat and in the Top 5 historical romances I've listened to. A must listen for anyone who loves a Happily Ever After...
Audio-fiction ADDICT !
This series is SO GOOD! Though this book is slightly less impressive than the first book. But still it was an amazing one. The highland stories are so exciting. The characters are so attractive and the plot is so sensual.
The narrator is really good. I like that she reads in simple neutral English, then when talking out the characters, transforms into a good and understandable Scottish accent. Very well done performance.
For historical addicts like me, this is a fine treat ;)
Never judge a book by its movie
I loved the story line, the sub plots, and the family dynamics of the McCabe's. There is a lot going on in this story it flows beautfully
always loved Calen, the youngest McCabe brother. He tries so hard to be cynical, about women and love, but you can feel deep down, he wants love more than anything.
I was really sceptical l because she has an american accent, but that's only when she is reading a descriptive passage. But she was FANTASTIC, her Scots burr was bang on.for ALL the characters
The most moving scene is the beginning of the wedding, When the heroine (Keeley) watches hero (Alaric) wed her childhood friend Rionna.
It was beautiful, and so moving, this scene alone is worth the credit.
You will not regret downloading this book, or any book. I cannot wait until Caelen's story!!!
Top five highland book
When Keely saves Alric
Everything, she is amazing
Yes, and I did.
This book kept me interested the entire time
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a really good book. I enjoyed it a lot and Alaric and Keeley made great pair. I was so happy that things were able to be worked out for them.
Keeley is a healer and an outcast of the McDonald clan (she was wrongly accused). She's a very nice (I liked her a lot) and tried not to dwell on the past. She makes the best she can out of her life, making a living off of a few coins she gets for her healing skills. She's unprepared for a wounded man she finds on her doorstep.
Alaric is a good man. He's brother to the leader of the McCabe clan. He loves his clan very much and has agreed to wed the neighboring clan's daughter, Rionna, to cement an alliance. He's on his way to "officially" propose to Rionna when he and his men are attacked. He barely escapes with his life and isn't aware of much until he finds himself tended by a strange woman.
From the beginning there's an attraction between Alaric and Keeley. She finds herself falling for him as she nurses him back to health. Alaric finds himself very attracted to Keeley too and feels a constant need to have her near. When his brothers find him in Keeley's cottage they decide to take both Alaric and Keeley back to their clan home. Unfortunately they kidnap Keeley to accomplish this and she's unthrilled with this even though she wants to continue to nurse Alaric. After some difficulties and arguements with Ewan (loved him in the last book but he was kind of being a jerk about this) Keeley finally agrees to stay and be the healer for the McCabe clan.
Once Alaric is recovering it comes out that he has an arranged marriage to Rionna that ties his hands so he can't have Keeley long term and he doesn't want to disgrace her with a fling. Both Alaric and Keeley want to be together very badly but know that they shouldn't because of Alaric impending wedding. This is easier said than done because they both long for each other. Regardless of their best intentions, Alaric and Keeley give in to their feelings...figuring if nothing else at least they can have some time together before he has to wed Rionna. They take what they can, knowing it'll just make things harder in the end but not able to resist. They have bittersweet moments, falling for each other even more as they try not to think about the future.
While Keeley and Alaric are unsuccessfully fighting their feeling for each other there's other issues as well. Mairin (from the first book) is pregnant and threatening delivery at any time. Their enemies are still trying to cause trouble and stop alliances which brings danger to the McCabes multiple times. Not to mention the marriage brings some of Keeley's past troubles back to plague her. Alaric is determined not to let down his clan (even though it'll leave both him and Keeley miserable) and this isn't helped by the fact that the King wants the wedding for the alliance it'll bring. Things aren't looking very good as the marriage approaches and at the last moment Keeley puts her own life in danger to save Alaric. She's hurt and almost dies but it leads in to a great end of the story with a very pleasing HEA.
I really enjoyed this book. I was wanting Alaric and Keeley to be together from the beginning and was so pleased with their happy ending. The book leads in to the next book with Caelen and it looks good so I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up! :D
Long time member. I enjoy my audio books more than TV. historical fiction my fav. (i think) I listen while cleaning, doing DIY projects makes my comute downtown actually enjoyable.
The last supper with the king.
She is great. Very talented.
When Kellie realized she had a family- a Clan...
part two would not play on my vibe. other books don't give me any issues. It would freeze up only when I tried to play part 2. I even deleted and downloaded it and still acted goofy.
Had to carry my lap top around to finish the book.
Glad I did it was good.
Again with the cover art! Where is the hero's long hair?! OK, petty, I know... So, this is the story of Alaric McCabe, fierce warrior and younger brother to the laird of the McCabe clan. The story starts with him heading over to the McDonald clan lands, planning to marry Rionna McDonald and to seal the alliance between the two clans. He is hesitant to marry her after seeing the love match between his brother Ewan and his new wife Mairin, but he is willing to do whatever it takes to support his clan. While on his way there, though, he is set upon by soldiers sent by the dastardly Duncan Cameron and is terribly wounded. By happenstance, his horse takes him to the tiny cabin of Keely McDonald, local healer who has been cast out of the clan, due to circumstances beyond her control. She saves his life and ends up being taken back to the McCabe lands, both to continue to help Alaric recover and to attend to Mairin's pregnancy and delivery, since the McCabes have no healer. What will happen to the burgeoning love between Alaric and Keely? What about the alliance between the McDonalds and the McCabes? What about Duncan Cameron? This is such an exciting and romantic read. Yes, I cried -- more than once! Looking forward to the third book in the trilogy!
I like this series, however, this is my least favorite. A little too much sex and not enough story for me.
