It was a narrated by Martin Sheen and he did an excellent job.
Loved the history and the father and son relationship throughout their careers.
How their real people with real problems.
I'm in awe! That in these 13 hour of Emilio and Martin narrating their lives, there's not a second that gets boring. I've even rewatched almost all of the movies mentioned in the book and with those stories in mind, ive seen them in a new light and with even bigger admiration.
Sheen and Estevez walk the listener through very intimate, challenging life experiences that follow the boomerang of father and son relations. Not chronological, the bi-epic traverses four generations; some decisions outlive the decision-maker.
Interesting, compelling, and unexpected
Fascinating back story on Sheen - Estovez family
If you have any interest in these two, it is a good read. No buff and fluff, just a really fascinating look into their lives.
I always liked the Estevez family, Emilio in particular, and learned a lot about them in this book. This is an honest, often raw, account of their family life over the years, and it makes me appreciate them so much more. They are just a normal family with a lot of the same ups and downs as everyone else. I was left feeling like we were almost friends, who had a deep conversation over dinner and some Pinot. It is definitely worth the listen.
I enjoyed hearing about the adventures, mishaps and relationships of these two very interesting men. Well written and narrated with a back and forth, chronological flow. I could not put it down.
This is a fascinating book about family, love and keeping to your vision. It is not easy to raise a family and we learn another viewpoint from a garner and son. This book is full of wonderful and honest perspective. Would recommend to anyone. It is informative, entertaining. and insightful.
I think anytime you have the opportunity to listen to an autobiography from the author(s) themselves it adds to the intimacy of the story.
I was touched by their raw honesty and the candid portrayal of the complexity of their relationship. I was most struck by Mr. Sheen's personal journey and growth and WHAT A SPECTACULAR WIFE he is married to...she is clearly the glue of their family!!!
I generally listen to audio books while walking the dog and enjoying the peacefulness of the outdoors.
I have to admit that I had not heard of the movie The Way prior to listening to this audio book but I made a point of watching while I was still in the middle of the book. It was an enjoyable movie and made more meaningful with the "behind the scene" commentary by both Martin and Emilio. I will also make a point of watching Apocalypse Now.
Lastly, hearing of the vineyards in Emilio's back yard, I want to get my hands on a bottle of his Pinot Noir!!! ;)
Great Father and Son Biography! I love the way the life stories were recalled from both perspectives. Excellent insight into the lives of very public people.
