I love this book. I even like it more than the first one, and I liked the first one a lot. The way it's performed and written I feel like I can see the world the characters live in. I can't wait for book 3.
Tell us about yourself!
Absolutely! This book is great for teens and adults alike. Whether your a fan of novels about surviving a dystopian future, a lover of sci-fi action stories or just like a really good mystery, this book is for you. The only warning I would give is that this is the 2nd book in a trilogy, the first book is entitled "Divergent," and the last book isn't due out until Fall 2013. I would highly recommend a reader to read "Divergent" first, otherwise the plot might be a little hard to follow.
I liked getting the opportunity to learn more about the other factions. I also liked finding out more about Divergents and the mystery surrounding the factioned civilization in Chicago.
If you loved the Hunger Games, this series is for you! This is a great story for boys or girls, as well as youths or adults.
I really like this series. I love the way each book has ended so far too. Can't wait for the third book to come out.
Insurgent is one of the best books I have read.
I really enjoyed Divergent and its sequel Insurgent. The heroine, Tris, is complex and therefore, for me, quite realistic. She sees herself as cowardly and selfish, yet she demonstrates incredible bravery and selflessness. Just like Tris, I think we all are a mixture of many strengths and weaknesses and react differently given different circumstances. Her romantic interest, Tobias, is also very complex and interesting. Through the adventures they share, they learn about themselves, one another, and life.
I also enjoyed the setting and the storyline. I find various author's visions of a post democratic America interesting. I loved the Hunger Games and Suzanne Collins' interpretation of a post-apocalyptic America. However, I liked Veronica Roth's even more. I found Divergent and Insurgent much more thought provoking. Tris grapples with the concept of bravery and what it means to be brave. Ultimately she realizes that sometimes being selfless is the highest act of bravery. She also learns that being brave doesn't always exonerate yourself from feeling guilt.
I also like the factionalized society that Roth brings to life. Our current society may not be as physically factionalized as Tris and Tobias', but we nevertheless pick like minded people to align ourselves with. What often comes next is ridicule and even hatred of those who believe differently. Like Roth's world, we even go so far as to start killing those who believe differently than ourselves.
Again, I found much to think about why listening to and enjoying both Divergent and Insurgent. I anxiously await the release of the next book in the Trilogy.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for using the same narrator. I hate listening to sequels of books that have a different narrator every time. This is probably one of my most favorite audio books of all times because of this simple fact.
I honestly can't think of any book that comes anywhere near this amazing book
I love Tris; for her strength, her bravery, her selflessness, she everything I strive to be
Just another shout out thank you for keeping the same narrator :)
Good clean writing, wonderful reading voice by Emma Galvin. This story pulls you into the thrilling life of Tres. The author gives good clues but you are surprised as the plot thickens. This is the kind of book I will save and read again. A very good listen. Reccomend for youth and "youthful" readers. I'm 57 and loved it.
This was a great book to listen to. As, with the first one, it is fast paced and pulls you along for the ride! More secrets are unravelled that were hinted at in the first book, with bigger ones now coming to fruition and the worst part is that I have to wait another year for the outcome. As Tris' world becomes a battlefield and her relationship with Tobias mostly rocky as well, Tris must decide where her loyalties lie. Does she team up with the Factionless and strike back at Erudite or work her own agenda and find out what it is that her parents sacrificed their lives for.
These books have been about the choices we make in our lives and the outcomes of them.
Tris is not only finding out more about the world she lives in, but also who she is and what she stands for. A fun book to read and thought provoking as well. I highly recommend that you pick this up. The narrative by Emma Galvin is superb. Her voice is so Tris, with strength and emotion. Emma has brought this wonderful character and the world she lives in, to life.
I loved Divergent, I was hooked upon the first page. When I read Divergent I bought the hard cover, I had no regrets but when Insurgent came out I bought the book but was too busy to read it. No matter how much I wanted to I just didn't have the time. I decided to join audible a few weeks ago and was thrilled when I seen that they had insurgent! So for any readers out there who have not started the series I would totally suggest the audio version. Emma Galvin is fantastic and she sounds just like I would of imagined Tris to sound like. Another reason why I love audios is because If Im too busy to do any reading I can still get my fix in. I am able to cook, workout, do housework and just about anything else while listening to some great narrators. It also tends to keep me motivated. I end up wanting to clean just so I can listen to a book.
Tris and Tobias for sure. Tris is a great character, I found I could relate to her. When I was younger I was alot like Tris was in the beginning of the book. She didnt quite know what she wanted in life let alone who she really was. Throughout the novels Tris changes and grows so much, I just love this character she is hardcore, deep and smart, and at times stubborn and this story displays her greatly .
Emma did a great job preforming all of the characters. I love her when she speaks as Tobias. She does a great male voice.
I definitely did not want to stop listening.
Great series. I cant wait for the next book!
I admit the first book didn't fully have me begging for more but after book 2 I am begging! I liked it so much I had to go back and listen to the first book and see what I didn't pick up on the first time around.
