Heroes is what you will hear about in this book. Everyone you hear is one. Very well done. Thank u for you sacrifice!!
This was a very well written book. It was told like only Marcus could tell it. There were tears of joy and of sorrow.
Although there were some long drawn out descriptions of occurrences and actions with a little bs in between it was told no less from the heart. I enjoyed all of it.
Say something about yourself!
Was not interested in seeing this movie before I read the book (audible). After listening, I have no desire to watch the movie knowing it won't come close to the book. Too much Hollywood. Excellent book!
I didn't have a problem with Kevin Collin's performance.
Movies never are as good as the books
God Bless our Military, and THANK YOU !!!!!
I'm giving it such low star points because I tried listening several times but I found two problems that made it tough for me to continue. First is the reader.....He might be fine with other titles, but I really think he was mismatched on this title. He really doesn't come across as a tough special forces person.
Second is that this story is apparently from a real account. I know it's often much harder to make a real account story interesting because you're pretty much stuck to the story without much embellishments to make the flow more interesting. Much of the story seem like something people with some military background would enjoy. I have none and basically couldn't remain interested as it continued.
Like I said...It didn't work for me. If you like military stories this might be right up your alley, but not mine
this is an important story for Americans to hear. Marcus luttrell went through an amazing ordeal. the movie is good but the book is always better. it made me think about the impact of R.o.e. and how w fight vs hire terrorists fight. I agree with luttrell that there are some aspects of war that the general public just can't understand and really doesn't need or want to know. I'm amazed at how resilient he and the other seals are.
It broke my heart to hear this mans story. As a combat veteran I have an understanding on a much much less scale. I have a profound appreciation for Marcus, his team and brotherhood. Leave it to a man of his caliber to minimize his injuries and experience but know full well behind this story is a man who lived through hell over and over. I had to keep reminding myself that it is not just a "story" it is real. I kept hoping for a better outcome and found myself wanting to help. I was so consumed by this book and story line that I could see what he saw and felt his words. I'm afraid to see the movie because it will likely not live up to Marcus's words.
