Before reading this book I had watched the movie and left the theater with feelings of gratitude towards our armed forces and feeling more appreciative for their actions and sacrifices. I thought that I had a better understanding of what they sometimes go through to defend our country. After reading this book, I realized I did not have a clue. The things those men and women put themselves through is astounding. We mere citizens can never begin to show our gratitude towards you, at least I can not. I often think about 9/11 and I also think about the men and women protecting this great nation and I hope they are well. However that is not always the case. I know that there are times when our armed forces have to make decisions that may result in the loss of life, and for that I am eternally grateful. Because I know they gladly bear that cross with honor so that our country can survive and flourish.
In closing, I know thank you doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of my gratitude, so I'll just have to do what every American should do. Live my life, love my God, love my country and love my family everyday. And whenever I get the chance show my respect to our members of the armed forces as best I can.
God Bless Marcus and all of his brothers and sisters in the military.
I read this book due to being the daughter of a Marine, sister to 2 Army brothers (one of whom was SF), and wife to an Air Force Veteran. pride for my country & the men & women who serve for it run deep in my veins. if you aren't a lifetime military bratt like myself & lack that pride... READ THIS BOOK! The people who serve our country deserve nothing but honor & awe from us Meer civilians. God bless you Marcus!
This is a great story of one of the biggest tragedies of the war in Afghanistan. Marcus Luttrell story is that of true heroes. Told in a way only Marcus Luttrell himself could tell. He completed is mission and deserves the utmost respect.
This was an excellent story from beginning to end. It truly captures the heroic actions of the US Navy Seals, and the devastating events that occurred that fateful day. It took me a day and half to finish the 14 plus hours of this tale because I just couldn't stop listening.
I hate reading. Thanks audible for allowing me to experience stories without turning a single page or cranking my neck.
i have no clue. i haven't actually read a book since high school.
There was no favorite character to me. I felt for all the Navy seals and their families. War is just the worst.
He did a good job with all of them.
Yes, but i have 4 mouths to feed and a job i go to every day so i couldn't.
The story is quite intense and had me wanting to listen to it all the time. The narration is great and helps put you in the middle of the action. I gained a new level of respect for the individuals who serve our country and the families who stand behind them.
I read a lot of war books a war memoirs. However this by far is my favorite book. A book about heroism by a humble man who wants his achievements to be passed on to his well deserving fellow soldiers. Anyone who sees this book should pick it up and read it!
Very moving very inspiring sad and happy at the same time. I watched the movie but the book is soooo much more...and some.

I truly identified with Marcus I felt all his pain his frustration his gratefulness everything!!! Marcus is a true living hero!! Totally great listen.
