It may be for someone who wants totally fantasy with no basis in reality
She was fine. The dumb book overshadowed her performance
This book was ridiculous and annoying
this book was written in my opinion without real thought to battered women or sensitive men. I listened to two chapters which was about 45 minutes to find I just couldn't put myself thought it anymore.
Her characters changed within half an hour of meeting each other. They were just horny without any substance. She started the book with the female character being beaten and jumpy and skittish to within half an hour of meeting the male character of satisfying herself in his hot tub with him watching!! And he started off as a sensitive man noticing her bruises and decides he has to take it slowly and get her trust to within half an hour of bursting in on her and invading her privacy. This would not happen in the real world and is just ridiculous.
Yes, she read the book well.
I would never listen or read to another of this authors. Its a real let down.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
This was the first book by Bella Andre that I've read although I've seen her books all over the web. I liked the book enough to want to listen to the next in the series, but I did have some issues with it. I really don't like insta-love type of books, I'd much rather read about a relationship that grows over time not ones that take a day or three. I really liked the first half of the book more then the second half because you actually read about Chase trying to woo Chloe and build trust between them. The second half was pretty much all sex then confrontation and sex then more sex.
I'm pretty sure that while this is written as a series each book can be read as a stand alone. I'm going to read them in order just to get the full effect of Ms. Andre's writing style. Looking forward to Marcus' story.
A good listen made more enjoyable by Eva Kaminsky's excellent delivery of the story.
Ok I read the reviews of this book and thought it sounded good. I did not hate the book but something just did not click. What young person has a passion for quilting??? I don't even know people in their 40's that have this type of passion. Then all of a sudden she is great at working with wardrobes. I don't know it just did not flow for me. The whole ex-husband coming after her was just sort of dropped and then boom he appears at the end. Not surprising but not really connecting the story. Also the immediate spark between the two is a little over the top. I like romance but for me this was a bit too mushy. The whole story took place in 4 days and it just did not work for me. I did like the narrator so that was a good point. I just think that the book needed more content and that there was potential for it to be better. Maybe the other books in the series will have a stronger plot. If you are looking for a love story that is very typicall then this is one for you.
I like a little sex in my book not a little book in my sex. Geezs they were bopped each other all the time ,more story please!
TOOOOOOO MUCH SEX
The setting (a winery) - the male character (a photographer) - and the female character (a battered woman intent on making her own way) are a recipe for fun...and the author does not disappoint! This is my first Bella Andre book, but it won't be my last...book 2 and book 3 of the Sullivans are already on my wish list!
It reminded me a bit of Sarah Mayberry's "All over you" - in that the female lead had been totally burned before and needed a lot of space and tenderness before she was willing to lay it all on the line again.
Chase Sullivan's patience and genuine caring really touched me. He was such a wonderful and kind character...and yet the author was able to make him a strong exciting male lead at the same time.
I am already looking forward to book 2 (Marcus's story). The author did a great job of only giving me a tiny peek into his character and making me drool for more!
I love a good romance but this book had none…Boy meets girl, takes her home, they end up together the next night and fall madly in love. This book had too much "steam" and no story/romance. If you took out all the steamy scenes this book would be a 10 minute listen.
Gimme a good story and I'm happy!
If the story had been even marginally believable, I would have at least put this down as entertaining. I had enjoyed the book when I read it, but having to listen to the hero say "Lovely" over and over again, made me want to lose my lunch.
The treacly sweetness of the love story.
She was the only highlight of this book. She has a great voice for the female dialogue and she emotes nicely. When she reads the male parts though, she deepens her voice and it makes her affect flat. That aside, EK's reading was the one thing that kept me going until the end.
Sadly, Chase and Chloe, the hero and heroine!
I had liked the first four books in this series when I read them, which is usually at night before falling asleep. However, listening to the Look of Love in broad daylight when I'm in the school pick-up line was like getting doused with cold water. Totally unbelievable and over-the-top with tender feelings and lust. It was just icky!!!Thankfully, I only spent $1.99 for it. Even with that, I'm seriously contemplating returning Book 2 which was also $1.99.
The story was way to predictable. Needed more to the story plot.
No. Just very dull and boring
She was good. Strong, pleasant voice. Read very well with lots of emotion.
It was the perfect love story with lots of steamy sex. (just boring) needs more ...drama! LOL!
I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series to see if it has a better story plot... more of a plot. Hoping that it will redeem the series. If not, then I will be moving on to a new author.
