Nothing. It is by the most boring, lack lustre book I have listened to so far. In fact, I couldn't even get past the first hour before I was sent screaming back to truly remarkable stories by Bryce Courtney, Kathy Lette and Michael Connolly. I fail to see what all the fuss is about. My first thought was "you've got to be kidding - a submissive - God give me strength". Really, it doesn't even deserve 1 star!
In no way whatsoever
Insipid and cutesy. No character in the voice at all.
Don't waste your money if you enjoy a really well written and narrated book
Yes, It took me on a journey and was really interesting. It was completely unexpected as based on the way it is being talked about, I was expecting a highly trashy erotica, and it's not. It's a love story, and follows the journey of both parties as their boundaries are fully tested. It took me through a range of emotions, and made me reflect on myself, my boundaries, the emotional baggage people carry around with them, and the lasting impact people can have on each other. Don't judge it until you've read it for yourself.
I was expecting this book to be following a girl being led into becoming a submissive, but it's not. I found the way Ana is played by Becca is totally believable, and found her responses to mirror my own so well, that I almost felt like I took the journey with her.
I was surprised just how quickly I could become almost bored with their sexual exploration. There clearly is a capacity level for sexual content and this book pushed and exceeded mine. But not by shocking or surprising, as I actually didn't find it that shocking or surprising, as I had expected to do, but instead, by its sheer excess. Although I did feel that level of sex in the first months of a relationship is not unheard of, and their capacity to climax is pushing reality. However this is the ultimate fantasy man externally, so why not give him the ultimate fantasy capacity also. I didn't get to the point of wanting to spin on over the sex scenes, but I know people who did.
I actually really enjoyed this, and not only that it inspired reflection, which was a great. This book took me on a journey, and is different to any other book I've read. I find it's composition and origins fascinating, in that it is said it was transposed from twilight fan fiction and I can see this at times, but despite this, it's still good, and I supect far better than it would have been in it's original form. I think hearing it might actually have improved and lifted the text. Certainly youtube clips of others reading it make it sound so different.
No not better but love the fact that I can listen to them where ever and when ever I want. But then I'm addicted to audio books.
Yes there is the erotic romance but it is also a very good story. Can't wait for further stories on Christian and Anastasia.
Her ability to be all characters is brilliant.
I fell in love with the 2 main characters and they made me both laugh and cry.
If you loved reading this trilogy then I can assure you the audio version is just as brilliant.
At first I found this book to be a bit amateurish. The writing sounded like it had been done by a young teenager. However the story soon got me involved. The interaction between the characters was funny and sometimes a little raunchy, but that isn't really what makes you want to keep reading. I don't know what it is about these books but you really don't want to put them down and then when the story is over you feel bereft. Like you have lost your best friends.
Excellent overall read, and the lady that reads them is very good. You feel the difference between the characters.
These will be books I will continue to listen to over and over again.
The content of the book and the monotonous, repetitious emails which seem to occupy most of the story.
None from this author.
Yes, but not from this author.
Anger and disappointment that I had wasted a credit on this rubbish.
Something more believable - Christian Grey came across like a superhero with a sex addiction...how does he have time to do all these things?
Yes, I would not read the second / third books in this trilogy.
Found a better story to read!
Not cut but at least make Christian Grey appear more human. He plays the piano, flies helicopters and gliders, runs an incredibly successful company, can discuss any food or drink...he makes James Bond look like Elmer Fudd
I have never read anything like it.
She humanises the story and makes it more believable.
I really enjoyed listening this trilogy. It was a well written, interesting, entertaining story with good character repoire. There was a little bit of eroticism which added to the story line rather than being THE IDEA around which the story was woven. In the end - love conquers all!
All three books have their own story as well as combining for the overall story of the triology.
I am now going to get the books to read as well.
Dr Steffan Silcox
Having listened to the performance and taken note of the storyline I can see very little literature merit in the story and unfortunately the performance left a lot to be desired. Lady Chatterley it is not. It reads like a Penthouse forum letter and is at best a disappointment given the undeserved hype the book has received.
A better reading of the text would have improved the audible side of things but the content was just not there to begin with. Sorry but a poor storyline compounded by a just so performance.
Its boring and very predictable. The sex scenes are very naive.
No, I do not like her pronunciation and her voice for men is pathetic.
Big disappointment because of all the hype. I found myself skipping to the next chapter all the time because it was so boring.
