"Wonderful second book! Unexpected twists too."
I really enjoyed the performance of this book. The story was a great continuation of the first in the series, The Next Always, but stands on it's own too.
Best? I think the twist that I will not reveal for the others who haven't experienced the story yet. Plus the secondary characters of Owen's mother and Avery's father.
I like hearing books performed by men. Mr. MacLeod's narration is a good cadence and tone. I think when I listen to a book I actually hear more of the story than when I just read it myself.
Very enjoyable performance. I look forward to more romance narrations from this performer.
"Female narrator might have been better"
Great book. I always love the Nora Roberts' trilogies. But I wasn't a fan of the male narrator. I would definitely listen to another book narrated by him unless one of the two main characters is female. His narration of all of the male characters was wonderful and very easy to differentiate between each character. The female characters sounded silly and like audio characitures. The older the female, the worse it was. The main female character, Avery, was better than the rest but if she got emotional or excited she sounded juvenile. I do like Mr. Andrews' voice and look forward to hearing him narrate more but hope that his 'lady voices' gain the same depth he gave the male characters.
"Love Nora"
Yes, Love Nora Roberts Series
A Little slow at first, but will definitely listen to last book in series when available
"Some problems, but still enjoyable."
I thought long and hard about continuing this series because of the narration problems in the first book. However, this seems to be just a bit (just a wee bit) better though most of this sequel - until about 3/4 of the way through, and the narrator noticeably slows down again. This leads me to think that there may be a problem with the duplicating equipment rather than the narrator. This is just a supposition, as I haven't had the nerve to listen to any other book narrated by Mr. Andrews. However, running the playback at 1.5 speed seems to make it bearable.
I love the town of Boonesboro. I went there on a couple of great meandering exploration trips several years ago. This is why I want to finish the series.. it brings back great memories.
I was a bit disappointed with the story though.. it seemed rather tame and no... 'umph', that is usually present in Nora's books. This is a middle book though, and sometimes that happens. Getting to know Lizzy better, is nice.
It is a nice book, just don't expect too much excitement or the normal Nora tension.
"Loved Bk. 1, Adored Bk. 2 & Excited about Bk. 3"
As far as I'm concerned this trilogy is and will be, with the third installment, one of Nora Roberts all time BEST! Great characters you can relate to and care about, well timed humor, and sweet romance! What a great combination! Loved the first two books, and really liked the narrator! Would recommend this series wholeheartedly.
"good story, now used to narrator"
I've listened to almost 100 books -- many of them classics. This is my first Nora Roberts trilogy, and after reading the first book, I was looking forward to the second in the series.
This was another good listen, a good romance. Not overly sappy. I find myself watching Audible to see when the third installment will be available. The stories are still somewhat predictable -- I think I know how the third story will go -- but I don't care. I'm still invested in the characters.
I listened whenever I had even a few minutes to spare. I wanted to hear what happened next.
For the first book, I had a little trouble with the narrator. He wasn't all that great with creating distinct women's voices. Same with the second book -- but I was expecting it and just accepted it because I want to listen to these stories. I've resigned myself to the fact that it'll be the same person narrating the third book as did the first two, and I'll just deal with it.
It's all about strong, beautiful women and strong, handsome men -- all good, smart people.
Yes, it's a basic romance where all ends happily, and yes -- it's a fun listen. Can't wait for the third installment!
"Loved it!"
Loved book one. Book two did not disappoint. Looking forward to the third installment. I am a new Nora fan and am methodically listening to all of her work. She's the best.
"Good Book"
I have enjoyed the series and am waiting on the story of the last brother--we can guess who the young lady will be. I have gotten use to narrator.
