This is so much better than Dead Reckoning was, I really enjoyed it. I know a lot of reviewers are complaining about the end, but I thought it was great. bill's voice has changed, not for the better, but otherwise this was a great performance and a good story. I am glad they got rid of one of the female characters.
If you have read the other sookie books you have to read it . Nothing great happens but if you want to finish the series i guess it is important.
young, southern, high
Not sure exactly how much "action" the negative reviewers expect in a Sookie novel, but I found the balance between Sookie's inner monologue and the actual plot to be spot on in this volume.
I listen to Sookie books to visit a friend in a fun place and to smile a lot, not only at her actions but her reactions to the situations she's in. This installment in the series is "just right". Well worth a credit or $20 for 10 hour glass of sweet tea.
An avid audible book listener!
If you are into the series, then you have to listen to this one.
If you haven't listened to the series before, don't start here.
Johanna Parker is simply perfect as Sookie. She brings the series to life.
True Blood deviates a bit from the books, but provides sensational television. Anna Paquin as Sookie is also a delight.
While this book moves the series along, I found the way it ended a bit frustrating. If you are a big fan of Pam, Bill and Eric, you will be disappointed with the storyline. The upside of the book is that it does offer some interesting twists and turns that the reader cannot ignore. Overall, it is worth listening to, just not as enjoyable as some of the earlier works.
I have listened to them all and in no particular order and enjoyed every one. I know some listeners believe the series should end but not me. Deadlocked is more like a tv series season finale; a cliffhanger leaving you wanting more. I can not wait until next season. Johanna Parker has the perfect accent for Sookie, who grew up in Louisiana. Without her narration, the stories might not be so easy listening.
I love the voice of Johanna Parker. The audio had a multiple story line all going on at the same time. Then as always the stories are concluded by the end of the book.
Last year, CH said this might be the last Sookie book. If it is, I'll have to find a witch to cast a horrible spell on her. The story was good, but the ending was far too ambiguous. In fact, I first thought I hadn't gotten the complete download and had to recheck that I had the end of the book.....getting a little sadistic leaving us hanging like that Ms. Harris.
It is AWESOME! All the books I have listened to are awesome!
Okay so this one is very refreshing and was written more as to give insight into Sookie and her own mind. I will be sad to see her go, and I really hope that she does not die in the end nor go to fairy. That would just be too easy... Charlaine Harris has created such evolution with this character, when you start with her first book Sookie is naive and everything freaks her out. One of the first things I noticed was she is not nearly as upset by blood and death as before, she has an edge to her now and I appreciate her so much more for it. I enjoyed being able to see a glimpse of the old Sookie but also the more mature one as well. So far this is one of my favorite in the series... I REALLY cannot wait for the final book.
AMAZING!!! Johanna Parker has such an awesome ability to perform the characters, she NEVER just reads the story. She makes you feel like she is living the story with you as it unfolds. You can tell she enjoys what she does and the joy it brings to others.
I actually really like this title and it completely fits the situation!
Charlaine Harris is by far one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to see what new series she has in store for us! She is who I think of when I hear the word creative! Bring on the final book... the loyal readers cannot wait!!!!!
Yes I would listen again, and have. I enjoy this series, but don't care to watch the tv version. My imagination is much better.
The narrator is only okay. She uses a bit of a sappy southern voice and it get wearing after this many books.
I loved listening to the story because the reader gives the characters emotions that you might not pick up on if your just reading it, plus it allows me to continue working!
You can't compare Charlaine Harris to anyone, she has an amazing imagination and creates the greatest characters! The books are so believable!
Anything with Eric. ;)
