The plot of the story could possible make for a good book. However, the writer and narrator should never write nor narrate again.
Not my kinda book, boring and slow
I'm trying to figure out how to return this book
The story was so weak and their was sex every other minute, it got so old. There was no build up to all of that sex and no story to speak of. I did listen to all 3 books, but other than the intreaging subject matter, I couldn't tell you why. Curiosity of the unknown. She did put a more positive spin on this world I knew nothing about.
More story is what this series really needed.
I never listened to exotica before and don't know what the narrator could have done better, it was the story that is the main problem.
This book did keep me curious to know about the different experiences to come and I continued for that reason only.
I wondered what all the excitement was about and bought this series before I took note of the reviews and only after I was half way through did I go back and read the reviews which matched my opinion. I will be much more careful in the future to read reviews.
The story, the narrator, all of it.
Sad excuse for a story.....very predictable. I stopped listening to it.
ANYONE....she just read it with no feeling. It was laughable!
I couldn't listen to all of it. I downloaded the whole trilogy and returned them all.
I can't understand the hype. I bought this for a 5 hour drive & just went to the homepage to buy the best seller on Audible not knowing what I was getting into. No plot, no characters to relate to or characters to like & no depth of story. Good for frustrated wives wanting to fantasize or fans of crappy reality TV such the Real Housewives of Cleveland or America's Fattest Fatties but not for anyone of reasonable intelligence or depth.
I will probably download the book on my Kindle and read it instead of listen to it.
Anyone with a bit more mature voice. I know she is supposed to be naive and innocent, to start, but I just can't get to the later parts of the book with such a young, valley girl, voice. It almost seems lurid to me. And having her do the male voices, by lowering her already girlish voice, seems really wrong. It seems to be more of her fantasies she is recounting rather than actual events.
I would not - because much like sex itself, its fairly meaningless if you don't care about your partner
Sure - as long as she doesn't read in that horrible male voice
Well, the ending is - not really an ending. She has two others in this series - I will skip them
The main character, Anastasia, was vapid and, really, just totally unbelievable. Christian is written as a composite of Daddy Warbucks and the Marquis DeSade... Its a shame its not like true porn where you can fast forward to the titillating scenes... Save your IQ and a few hours of your life and just buy another vibrator
The narrator in this book was not nearly as bad as the plot (if you can call it that)
Anger, at the fact that it sold so many books, sub-par writing should not be rewarded.
This a great book and you won't want to turn it off. I find myself listening for a quick listen if I only have 5 minutes. The narration leaves something to be desired.
I procasitnated on listening to this book because of such harsh reviews on the narration.
However when I purchased I relized it is bad but not unbarable.
The book is written with a young audlt in mind so she sounds age appropriate.
When the narrator does the male voices it leaves something to be desired.
There could be more emotion through out the whole book on the narrators part.
I was expecting worse on the narration but it is bare able and the context of the book makes up for the rest.
First of all, I've never posted a review before which means I've never expressed how many productions I've loved that have been made available by Audible.com. Cloud Atlas was incredible and got me all the way from the East Coast to the West, enthralled with ever characterization.
Sooooo, I was wondering what all the hype was about concerning 50 Shades.
Now I'm truly worried about the state of literacy. Are you kidding? First I thought it was just a bad narrator. But then I realized it was that the book (and I use that word very loosely here) was like reading a "dear diary" entry by a 13 year old child who had been molested by the student president of the local high school. I made myself listen for about a 4 hour car ride since I had spent the money...but no amount of money lost can force me to listen further. BEWARE Audible buyers....this is ridiculous drivel.
I wish I had my credit back.
If it hadn't been "performed" in the first place.
