I would have to say the humor. I try to add dry humor in my writings, but Mark Tufo takes it to a whole different level. Mike Talbot reminds me of Harrison Ford in Indian Jones. The "Barely Hero" where just when he thinks he has the upper hand, something goes wrong.
No I haven't. However, I will say his voice is not exactly how I see this character sound. He sounds more like a comedic actor than a veteran and prepper. That being said, it still works in its own way.
I will be honest, the background stories turned me off a little. It didn't put a stop to the story, really, but made me think "hurry up with it".
I love both writing and reading in the zombie genre, and Mark Tufo has a great spin with the Vampire villain. Sometimes it's hard to see where the story is going with the supernatural twists, but it is still engaging. While I enjoy the classic Romero zombie, I love to see small spins on the flesh eaters, and Mark does this with adding his own little variation.
This 2nd installment is better then the first, I realize this series is like a train it gains momentum slowly. .. The first book I thought was a C- !! I have to say this is a C+!! This book is a definite improvement, it's funny, and has alot of jokes and sarcasm but it has its moments! The reader sounds like a hit over the head Ray Ramono, he does a decent job with the read I wish they would had picked someone who is really good and had experience. Anyways I'm going to buy the 3rd because he has me curious now as to what is happening , The walking dead novels still rule!!!!!!!!!!
This series is loosing me. The author spends way too much time talking about super mundane details like how the main character needs to fart or go to the bathroom. There is not enough action to keep me engaged. It is very rare that I will stop listening to a book half way through but I just can't get myself to keep listening.
Good day all! Always been an avid reader. Decided to pick up the art of listening to books and oh how I am hooked! Love Audible books!
This book held me from beginning to end. I love the strategically placed humor that Mark Tufo gives us through Michael Talbot and I love his family. All the characters have an amazing way of sneaking into our lives and setting up a nice place to call home. Also Sean does an amazing job narrating.
The least helpful reviewer on audible.
This second Zombie Fallout book had less of everything I enjoyed about the first book and more of everything that annoyed me.
I've said it before, I get what Mark Tufo is trying to do. He's trying to create a character in Michael Talbot that has a witty, sarcastic sense of humor, but for me it was just too much. If he dialed it back a little then maybe I could get on board. I understand that hundreds of people love this, but I found very little of it to be amusing. I was rolling my eyes a lot.
I now have a strong suspicion that part of the reason it didn't work for me was the reader. Yet, there are hundreds of people who love him too. So, maybe it's me.
There were at least four times that I almost stopped listening to this book. The first time came in the prologues where it tells the story of a vampire who becomes a Zombie. There's only so much disbelief I can suspend. I have a line I don't want my stories to cross.
I'm sorry to say that I'm probably through with this series. It's sad because there was some things I enjoyed about it. If I do continue listening to this series it will be after I've forgotten how disappointed I was with this second book.
Great book. Love the way the story flows and the degree of unpredictability (and doom) that Tufo instills. Also some great self derisive gallows humor from the lead character, brilliantly delivered by Sean Runnette.
One thing I did not like though - Minor SPOILER: There is no ending to the book. Nothing is resolved. Absolutely nothing! It isn't even a real cliffhanger. If Tufo does the same thing with the next book (yes I will read it), I may well quit the series. Great book with an annoying ending.
As usual, Tufo continues to write yet another good book. Having listened to lycan fallout 1 & 2 before starting this series, it's exciting to finally see the progression of Mike and BT's friendship. Oh and Tommy too! Basically what I'm saying is, if you've read the first ZF and are reading these reviews for ZF 2, you need to quit wasting time and start listening.
