I'm a huge fan of the crime/suspense/thriller genre, so the description of this one really drew me in. I got pulled into the story really quickly and found the first part captivating. However, the shift in the story after that point felt a bit drawn out. There were secondary storylines I believed would eventually weave in to the main plot but felt a bit let down there ultimately. I'm new to Nora Roberts so perhaps I went into this with a different mindset, but it ended up more of a romance than a thriller with a slightly anticlimactic ending. Julia Wheelan is a great narrator though, so I'm willing to tryout anything she reads! Overall if you're looking for romance with suspense, this one is for you. If you're into more crime thrillers, you may want to skip.
Top of list!
Can't really compare to other books I read so far. It's a great thriller, suspense, romance all in one book!!
Nora Roberts did a excellent job writing this book! It was a great story line. Listened to it every chance I got on a daily basis. I didn't want it to end! Loved the narrator she did an amazing job! First Nora Roberts book for me and I will be reading more of her books!
The wife and I have purchased and listened to over 300 audio books together. This is the only one I have listened to more than twice. Even good books can be killed by a narator. This one has it all. 6 stars out of 5.
Always like listening to Nora Roberts books because I can get the mystery along with the romantic live story together!! This one was particularly good in the way the characters were developed each with a unique personality the narrator did a great job showing. A little twist in the ending made this a wonderful listen to accompany housework, sewing or cooking.
I love Nora Roberts and this book is one of her best IMO. The romance was sweet & tender. Most of the characters were lovable. The bad guys were bad but not unbelievable.
Julia Whelan was exceptional in her performance. I never once had to guess which character was speaking. She did great performing the young Liz & then the adult Liz (Abigail) too. Her performance here definitely help bring out each character's personality.
While the story is not entirely credible, it's not completely unbelievable. The story was entertaining.
