Rabid Listener/Reader and Shopper!
Narration - Julia Whelan - Killer! She's just such a super narrator - truly one of my all time favorites! Terrific narration voice, believable males, (and sexy too) and she really breathes personality into the characters.
I just did a little check through my shelves and this is the 27th Nora Roberts book that I've read and It's officially my favorite. Yeah, I went on a bit of a NR kick a while back. I usually enjoy her books, but I absolutely loved this one.
Elizabeth/Abigail is a female Sheldon Cooper. She's brilliant, with an IQ above 200, takes everything literal, she's quirky but charming, self sufficient, and dare I say - a bit of a bad ass, and did I say she's brilliant?
Brooks is absolutely delicious. If I could order him on Amazon, I would. Abigail does everything in her power to get rid of him and he just goes on about his business as if she didn't just shoot him down, talking away, charming the pants off of her and it made me smile and chuckle and honestly bow down in awe of Julia's mad narrative skills. She does such a fantastic job of interpreting the characters and bringing them to life. Her representation of Brooks was just so darn charming and endearing and at the same time, he was a bad ass too.
If you have agNORAphobia, get over it for this book. It's well researched, well written, VERY smart and just plain a terrific listen.
Yup...total book hangover.
Having been an Audible follower for a very short time and a frequent returner, I can say with great enthusiasm that this is probably the best audio book I have heard. It encourages me to keep on.
The love story mixed with the intrigue.
Julia Whelan is a master. How she kept the parts separate and believable I will never understand. What a brilliant performance.
Yes, it made me laugh with exuberance and cry with fear. The characters were wonderful. The Author, The Performance, The Characters... what more can I say.
This would make a great movie. However, when Ms. Roberts described a character a couple of times I thought "No, that isn't how I picture this character." I am sure we all have our image of how someone looks or what we think they would look like.
Oh, and did I mention that I am a Christian. This book really didn't need the four letter words. It would have made a great christian thriller. Sorry guys/gals, didn't mean to destroy your enthusiasm. The book is still here for you to hear or read in its' original format. The story was what I liked not the expletives, It was GOOD!
I wish this was a series. This is my all time favorite book of Nora Roberts. The best
An audio book that I didn't want to pause. Both the story and the character continued to grow up to the last chapter.
I liked the consistency of the characters personalities and the attention to details. Good job.
The characters are so believable and the story so intriguing as to make one unable to turn the narrator off and do something else. There is a tension to the story right up to the prologue.
Story started fast and I was hopeful. However with the entrance of the love interest things got slow and overly filled with unnecessary f-words and just general histrionics. The reader did not do male voices very well and that's a draw back for me. I used to enjoy Nora's romances but this type from her is not my cup of tea.
