Great story, with a rather strange end. It seems like Nora Roberts was in a rush to finish the book.
Remember when your parents told their friends stories late at night around the kitchen table? I remember listening; hanging on every word, able to see the story unfold because the story was great and the story teller simply put some much passion into telling. Ms. Roberts truly has develop such an experience and the Ms. Whelan ensures that you too will hang on every word. If you're looking for an excellent read; this is your book. Wonderful!!!!
Are all Nora Roberts books this tedious? No wonder she can churn them out so quickly. The actual plot in this book could have been told in 2 hours. But no. Roberts fluffs up her weak story line with enough crap to choke a horse. How many times do I have to listen to a discription of Abigal Lowery's garden? The dinner she's making? The hoodie she's wearing? The main character tells and retells the murder scenario about 100 times. I dreaded her meeting another character because it was just going to be told again. And again. And again. I wanted this book over more than any other I've listened to before. I'm sure there's a market for this crap, and I'm sure Nora Roberts is laughing all the way to the bank. But do yourself a favor and stay as far away from her pablum as possible.
I listen to about 20 books a year, so it's hard to believe I've never read one of NR's books before. What a great story. I actually felt like I knew both of the main characters with the way Ms Roberts developed them.
The narrator did a superb job. All the characters were easily distinguishable without that annoying sense that you sometimes hear when a narrator is working too hard. Ms. Whelan is truly gifted.
Only disappointment? It ended.
Tell us about yourself!
The progression from start to finish was well done. This is one of the few books that does not get lost in the mundane details other authors sometime fall into so they can fill pages - I tell them, "get to the point already!" This one does. The ending was a little quick, for what you had to endure to get there - but the story was well written and very entertaining.
This is the first Nora Roberts book that I have listened to - great book! I look forward to listening to more by this author.
Yes it was very exciting waiting in suspense to the very end
It was a wonderful book that was very suspenseful and kept you wanting to listen to the very end! I absolutely recommend reading this book. Full of suspense, love and solitude.
The narrator was spectacular, Totally absorbing. The main character Abigail is so intriguing you keep changing your mind of what is best for her. A great novel.
A Book Addict who found she could clean house and get her book fix with audio books.
She was great as a narrator. I loved the story and her reading of it.
