Okay, this is my first, and probably, hopefully, my last Nora Roberts book. I guess that once an author is a romance writer, there are always a romance writer. Don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for romantic movies! But in novels, the genre is not my cup of tea. This book was selected to entertain my wife and I on audio during a quick weekend trip to Arkansas. Fortunately, I slept thru some of the early hyper-girl stuff (while the wife was driving), and to be honest, we only continued the book due to the absolute lack of anything else to listen to in rural Mississippi!
That said, the book was very good. Once the miserable set-up of "teenage girls trying to get laid" was over, the plot emerged and I was hooked. Except for the occasional relapse into "woman sacrifices herself to perfect man" episodes, the story and characters were quiet rich.
Yech. Alright I did it. Is there a way I can hide the fact that I read this book?
There are SO many parts of the story that just repeat themselves over and over again- an example: every time there is any emotional confrontation, predictably & understandably Abigail had all kinds of emotional hang-ups but there are only so many times you can listen to the heroine say "I'm not good at this!" or "I just don't know what to do!". Honestly, it becomes flat out irritating after some time.
With that said, aside from the prolonged repetition the basic story line is great- although the love scenes are a little snooze-worthy, and un-needed.
This was my first, and I'll try one more book from her
The 2 main characters were so well developed and so well read!!!!!
A great introduction to Nora Roberts - the story line was original and a you really felt the emotions as the plot unfolded
I most certainly would listen to this book again. I enjoyed the growth of the main character and her strength.
While the plot was familiar it had twists that I did not see coming.
Lizzie aka Abigail
Got you to love the main characters.
Again the ending.
This was an excellent story though a bit unbelievable about nature over nurture. How our free will decides if we over come and triumph over the hand we are dealt when born or if we simply use it as an excuse to sink ourselves in self pity and destructive behavior. I had never been a fan of Nora Roberts but after listening to this book she now has me hooked!
In the top 10 so far. Excellent. Just a bit long to listen to!
The way the reality of the situation faced by someone in this situation was portraid.
The main character.
This was a completely absorbing story.
Would recommend this book to anyone. Loved this audible version.
Audio books are just my cup of tea!
A good listen! When you need a rest from vampires and intense murder mysteries I would recommend this book. Good narrator and a nice story. Nora Roberts never disappoints!
Lover of Snoop
This story was full of suspense, it was a thriller it was sad and it was full of mystery. I ran the full gamut of emotions on this one. I stayed up all night listening. The narrator was terrific and very easy to listen to.Great character, sharp, smart and I fell in love with the love story, this book has it all ,well worth a credit.

IT WAS SO GOOD, I COULD HARDLY PUT IT DOWN.
THANK YOU, KARENROSE
YES, ESPECIALLY TOWARD TO LAST WHEN SHE STARTS TO TELL ALL
I THINK IT WAS WONDERFUL. YOU COULD SEE EACH PERSON AS SHE WAS
WHEN HE ASKED HER TO MARRY HIM.
At first it seemed like a very predictible book with situations hard to believe, but the main character quickly wraps you and the story develops smoothly. In general a great story with an excellent balance of suspense and light reading.
Excellent performance, when listening to her, my mind was placed right with the characters and the story.
