It was too sappy and not at all believable.
I would not be interested if it was.
I thought the entire thing was too mushy and maudlin.
I appear to be in a minority here, but I am truly puzzled by the positive reviews. The story is very simple and highly predictable, the characters feel very simplistic and therefore fake, and it's probably twice as long as it needs to be. Not many positives for me in this one, and I typically like these types of thrillers very much.
She started to act like she was no longer and independent female. I enjoyed the story up until this point. The end was stil good but it's annoying to listen to the heroine act foolishly sometimes.
There are only 3 things that happened in this book. In between, you just here the same story over and over and over again.
No mystery no excitement. Most boring book I've heard in a long time
Such a shame because it's narrated by my favorite narrator, only reason I finished it..
This was our first Nora Roberts novel that has precipitated 2 new fans! We will definitely read more of her many novels.
Julia Whelan added just the right narrative and conveyed each character brilliantly. We will be looking for others performed by her.
Kuddos ladies, and bring on more!
I would, if my friend likes stories of characters that are stuck in one way of doing stuff. The main character is someone who has suffered in the past and now seems to be too fearful about the future. It was hard for me to step in her shoes. I highly recommend if someone is interested in well-structured characters with strong features.
Nora Roberts uses dogs as characters all the time, and I love the way the animals merge in the plot. I also enjoy the main character's mother who seems to be an exaggerated way of modern-society mom.
I believe that the narration is pretty good basically because of the way she reads the Russian characters and the way the voice portrays the sweet, innocent ways of the main character.
I guess that at the beginning I was able to empathize with the girl partying out... I guess that being raised in such a way brings different reactions to early experiences in life. However I don't think I would say it moved me, it just felt different.
It's a long book with ups and downs, the characters are well-structured but sometimes I feel they are too structured to be human. The setting is like another character, which is something I really appreciate.
I love mystery novels and this is kind of a mystery/romance combination that works well because the characters are vividly drawn and attract your attention immediately. It's a fine plot, or series of interconnected plots, and the narration is excellent. As a man, I'm not big on romance novels but this love interest is well done and compelling. I say give it a listen and I think you'll enjoy it a lot.
