This was an incredibly sweet, very well-written love story, with elements of mystery/thriller. Absolutely the ONLY negative was that it does have a few fairly explicit sex scenes. Normally, this is a deal-breaker for me - something that would cause me to return the book without even finishing the story...
But I lived the story and characters so much, and the scenes were handled tastefully enough, that I just decided to fast-forward a bit in those parts because I NEEDED to know what happened to the characters next. Apart from a handful of sexual scenes and a bit of cussing, it is just a fantastically told, very wholesome, heartwarming story of live and redemption.
I wish the author would rework it a bit to release a "PG or G rated" version, so I could share it with friends and family who would ONLY enjoy it without the sex and cussing! This is a truly gifted author, and a truly enjoyable story!
This is one of the best Nora Roberts books I've ever read. Although not great literature, the story is so compelling, the characters so real, that I listened for hours at a time!!! For anyone who wants to escape his daily problems for a while, this is the book for you!
THis book was incredible! I was hooked from the beginning and listened to the entire book at one sitting! Yup, I don't have a life! LOL
I am now looking for a book that will be as good as this one and grab my attention by Nora Roberts and just listened to The Search. Although I liked it a lot...it was not as good as The Witness.
I sent it to my nephew; an avid reader. I think anyone would like this book; it is full of twists and turns and an incredible protagonist.
Not really. I'm irritated with Brooks character. He's pushy and ignores what she says and what she wants, yet she *magically* falls in love with him. I just couldn't get into the love story. It would have been better as a thriller without stereotypical romance crap.
She does a great job with female voices, but for whatever reason all of her male voices sound terrible.
