LIFE just happens that way sometimes!
All I can say about this book is that I am sleepy and i think I fell asleep on this book. I don't really like books that start off with the end result and it's up to the reader to find out what happened along the way, in order to understand the end result or where the book is suppose to take you... BOOOOOOO! It was a good story though Mr Dickey but can we get a different beginning that will bring us to the end? This book reminded me of Genevieve and I almost stopped listening to that book after 1 hour into the book. I like this author but this book was a disappointing and I think I am starting to get mad now that I think about it that I even have this book on my list and I got this book as soon as it came out just because of the author... Shaking my head. Some folks may like this type of book and the storyline is great but I feel as if it could have been written in a different way to make it more interesting. Johnny Handsome was a beast though I wish I had me a Mandingo that could turn me out like he did Regina especially if "WE CAN MAKE A MOVIE"...lol. One thing that I learned though was that what comes around will always come back to haunt you and sometimes people try to force KARMA on folks but it's true what they say "What comes around goes around and KARMA has to happen in its own time.
This story was boring and it took way too long to get into the plot. The early chapters was just one boring sex scene after another.
Maybe if it was a more interesting story.
I seriously wish I would've read some of the other reviews before wasting a credit on this novel. Typically, I'm captivated by Eric Jerome Dickey's novels from the beginning to end; however, this book lacks everything that I've grown to love about EJD's former projects. It's written and narrated as if it's from the 1950's, but, it's clearly meant to be from today's standpoint.
I enjoyed the narration of the book but this was not my favorite EJD book. I have definitely enjoyed some of his other stories more than this one. Not terrible, just not one of his best in my opinion
Boring plot. Story was hard to follow. This book was not a good a Eric Jerome Dickey's books usually are. I skipped a few chapters because it was boring and kept repeating the same themes over and over.
Yes, the reader was fine. The book just wasn't good.
I haven't read Eric Jerome Dickey in a while, but I loved his early books... Couldn't wait for them to come out! So when I saw one with such an interesting title, I decided to try it.
This book is completely different from any of his work that I have read... Despite the departure from "African American themed" books, that I kind of expected, there is a "darkness" in this particular book that is unfamiliar and it also reads like one of the old detective novels where the gritty detective who has seen everything is not necessarily a likeable hero, but happens to be in the middle of all of the action anyway.
If you are looking for a lot of sex and a lot of action, it is here... But there isn't necessarily a lot of storyline and no likeable characters, although there are new characters constantly introduced, none of them other than the main character is developed enough that you really understand them at all. And even when you think you understand the main character and his motives, he does things that make no sense.
I would have developed the characters more and let them have just ONE personality.
The narration was very good.
No, a follow-up book would just be more "jumbled passion" that really leads nowhere.
Yes... I am on the road most of the time and its really great.
Driver and James Thicke...i love both characters, the way and how they look at things are crzay cool.
This is my first listen my Christopher Lane
I'm definitely a Eric Jerome Dickey fan but this book was the worst book that I ever listened to thus far and that's saying alot since I'm a avid listener! I can't believe this is writter by E J Dickey..WOW the only reason I gave it one star because the option to rate a book Zero stars was not listed. I didn't even get through 1 hour of this book.
Story line and narrator was awful!
Better narrator and maybe I would have attempted to listen to the whole book.
The beginning! Didn't grab my attention at all.
