Good narration, semi-steamy love scenes, sub-par story line. I've enjoyed Maya Banks' books but this one took almost the entire story before I began to have a small surge of interest. I bought the whole series on a sale several months ago, so hopefully the other books get better. I love a male lead that has a little dominant streak, but I think I just wasn't in the mood for some of the blatant sexism...although accurate for a historical piece I suppose...it grated on my nerves a bit. For now, I'll probably stick with my paranormal romance obsession and contemporary romances!
I read and enjoy many books by and about women, including quite a few labeled romance. In fact, one search engine has decided that I am a woman. I'm not ... and never have been. All my protesting is preface to this: Our heroine is a ninny, making the same mistakes over and over. Nor is the story even passingly close to reality. At any price above a buck save your money.
Yes, I read the 2 sequels but definitely enjoyed listening more.
The meeting of Mairin and Ewan.
Excellent reader. She makes the characters very alive in your mind.
Yes, very easy to sit back and enjoy.
If you like a good romance with a little spice and good storyline you will enjoy this and the two following it. Helps to read them in order.
Make no mistake between my personality and my attitude. My personality is who I am, my attitude depends on who you are.........
What an incredible series and narrator! Definitely worth the read; I couldn't stop until I had finished all three books.
Yes - Reminded me a lot of older Julie Garwood historicals. No surprises in plot but I found it enjoyable. Enjoyed narration.
Yes BUT not as audio. The narrator was not good.
not that good
If the narrator was better. She made Ewan sound weak even though the author made him appear as a warrior.
Good story but bad narrator!
