Nice, intriguing and engaging – you keep rooting for the good/misunderstood underdog.
Overall the story line was good and had some unexpected twists. The romantic scenes we pretty good and there were plenty of them. The narrator was good and I didn’t have problems following who was speaking plus she did a nice accent for the Scottish men (mind you I have no idea how that accent sounds in reality).
The only thing that bothered me was that the main male character was in fact a bit off/crazy/weird (he wasn’t crazy in the usual “oh that man is crazy haha” way he was in fact “different” and there is no changing/curing him. He is what he is and he had some serious real mental issues). Throughout the book I kept wondering WHY the writer chose such an odd personality for the male character. But that is just a personal preference not necessarily a reflection on the story in general.
Overall the story was worth the listen and interested me enough that I finished the listen in 2 days – so yes it is worth the time/credit.
The story was okay, more sexual than believable. How one could build a life with such a violent taciturn man is beyond me. I was distracted by the narrator's style, she reads as if each sentence is a breathless cliffhanger. I notice she does the same in the rest of the series(I checked it out and she doesn't read that way for American contemporaries!!??). And her UK accents are just atrocious. I wish it weren't so. This series needs different narrator, someone who does the accent justice before I would even try the next book in the series.
this book was dismal dark and depressing.. not sad as in some bad things happened and made you cry but just generallly depressing the male character was weak pretty pathetic and the herione was just pathetic and trashy im no prude but a couple of the things the author had her do was not only totally unrealistic for that day and age but even in this day is really raunchy and distasteful very disappointing...............
no just cant justify wasting the money
as if it couldnt get anyworse the narrator was simply awful pretentious and monotonious
it was so bad i fell asleep on it several times and didnt even finish the last twenty minutes or so this one was a bust..........
i give the author credit for attempting to do something different but in my eyes it just didnt work
unless u like depressing books dont waste ur money
Yes. The hero is loveable and sexy. The heroine is not a whiny ditts.
She had the perfect voice and seemed to understand the unique characters.
Same as the title. It fits perfectly.
Ian is an alpha male but not because of the usual reasons romance writers use, he is the way he is because of his genius.
I can not wait to see his other brothers stories. I hope audible will make them SOON!
No. The narrator was so terrible and painful to listen too I couldn't even enjoy the book enough the know what is was about.
The meeting of the H/H and how their story ties them together was a very interesting plot I wanted to entertain myself with listening to. But the naraator was so awful that I had to turn the book off.
worst narrator I have ever heard. I wish she will never record anything ever again!!!! not only were her accents inconsistance she had terrible expression for emotions and you could hear her breathing in a mic while she read. Most annoying. She did not properly expression emotion or tones and my god those accents made my teeth itch!
I'm sure the book may have been good but I will have to buy it in ebook form to find out since the narrator was so horrific.
Ban Angela Dawe!!!!!Please
Good listen, the story flowed well and kept me interested. The narrator was wonderful and the characters were honest. I look forward to the next in the series.
I did not have the written version.
The story is unpredictable, exciting, sensual, sexy, hot, fun, unbelievably enthralling.
Beth was the bomb! She was strong, smart, unbending, and very coning.
I loved it. I could not stop listening. Mrs. Ashley has become one of my favorites authors.
Not for the faint of heart. Well written, strong, but not vulgar. The dialogues were fabulous.
I loved the people in the story. Ian is so interesting and misunderstood. Beth sees beyond to the real person inside who feels so deeply. Not your normal superhero type, perfect man in a romantic tale, rather a pair of real people and a good murder mystery.
Does not make my top 20
No memorable moments stand out!
All characters performed by Angela Dawe are good, she my favorite narrator... Got this book because she was the narrator. But her british accent was lacking. She should stick to what she does best.... Contemporary romance
