I love AUDIBLE! I never get mad at traffic jams and can listen to many different books, despite of my short time.
I've read Mindsight 6 months ago. And I thought this one would be an interesting pick. I got disappointed. Too much psychology and too little brain science. Repetitive and slow. I had to put at 1 and 1/2 speed to enjoy the listening. There better books out there.
Female narrator was so bad. I couldn't stand listening to her. I had to forward through her parts. Male narrator was ok but not great.
This book was so repetitive! Waste of money. It could have been one chapter long.
Nasally annoying female voice. Please get someone else.
A commuter with a carniverous apetite for audiobooks of all stripes and colors.
I hated this book. It is not that it does not offer good parenting suggestions, in fact it does offer reasonable suggestions. It just over-simplified the topic. The authors said BRAIN so many times I couldn't take it anymore.
If the human brain is a completely foreign concept to you, and you like hearing the word brain every 10 words to keep you on topic, then maybe this book is for you.
If you are familiar with the basic concepts of the human brain, where it is located for example, then this book may be too simplistic for you. Perhaps the authors could write a less dumbed down version where they refer to the human brain with a pronoun every once in a while, then personally I think the book would be a lot less irritating. If they did that I would love to continue to listen to their solid parenting advice.
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The chapters follows very well and I liked the strategies that have been described. The last chapters that focus on the strategies per age group were very helpful. The narrators were excellent (The authors)
The metaphor is a useful device, but Dr Siegel and Ms Bryson overextend theirs to the point at which they assume a life of their own and become a substitute for reason. A sweet meal, but hard to swallow. Two stars - one for each author.
This book teaches healthy parenting, human development, neurological structure and how it effects our internal experience. This book teaches how to be a more peaceful person and parent.
This is a great book to scratch the surface of brain evolvement and how different parts of the brain connect. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants to lean about ABC of the brain.
I don't' recall
brain parts integrations and the general whole-brain strategy is really an amazing perspective. I can't wait to try this on my daughter.
Great work. Thank you
Really helped me understand what's going on in my children's brain and also in mine. It really helped me make connections with other parenting books. The other one I read was no bad kids. Really great to read after this one. Great application.
Completely changed how I interacted with my children and has had a positive effect on our whole family. After years of being in education, I have finally found a great way to teach my kids about their brains and emotions. Like they said teaching your children to thrive in situations can impact future generations of your family. Would recommend this to anyone.
