I ended up buying the hard copy because I think this is interesting stuff, unfortunately the female narrator's voice is so grating I just couldn't listen to this book. Every time she came on, I just cringed.
This was recommended by our counselor and I loved it - a science-based, compassionate approach to parenting. I appreciated the mix of a male and female voice throughout the text.
Passionate mother and social worker who loves to read and soak in knowledge.
Yes! I love the different voices used to read and the relevant concepts to parenting. Super helpful examples and techniques to manage behavior.
The storytelling voices kept me engaged and interested.
The discussion about the hub and wheel to visually illustrate the the concept of mindsight really stuck in my mind.
hard to finish.. stories where good for examples.. but getting to the point would have been better. overall it was interesting information and helped me understand how the brain worked in a growing human.. Lol. not tangible with some applications but great to make you stop and think
I like my horizons expansive and my details thorough. I enjoy reading about self-improvement, psychology, behavior change, technology, sociology, sci-fi, fantasy, history, cognitive science and other emerging sciences. I have a technology and business background and I'm an active gamer on most platforms available.
Poor narration ahead with lots of repetition. If you are familiar with neuroscience then you can skip this book.
This book is easy to understand and very informative on how the brain works. It explains how the left, right, lower and upper brain need to work together in order to live a happy, healthy life. The authors teach parents how to understand their children and respond in an appropriate manner. I highly recommend this book for anyone who works with children, especially all parents!
